After asking for an ingredient to be taken off, due to an allergy, it was not done. After eating a few bites and realizing it, I had to bring it to their attention. They remade the taco, however, there was not much concern given. And, yes, I experienced adverse effects from the few bites eaten, but not as severe as they sometimes have been. When an allergen is ingested, it doesn't always affect a person immediately, so I was on watch the rest of the day as a result.
The Rubio's near where we live was one of the ones that was suddenly closed two months ago. We had nothing but the best service there for years. They were always careful with my allergies, to help ensure I was safe.
I even went to a different location and saw one of the old managers who is now floating between stores, and he remembered my order and customizations. You don't often get service like that. I miss them.
I don't trust that this kitchen is as careful as our old location was.
(Also, their chips were undercooked and chewy. At least they gave us a new bag.)
-I still like their food, though- 😢

It's Rubio's. What's not to love?

Read moreAs a reply to Rubios response here. What the food made as it should? Does the salsa not actually have flavor? I would not give this place or ANY Rubios a try, ever again. Just absolutely crap food. This is San Diego, no shortage of Mexican food around.
The smallest burritos I have had, very little flavor. My son ate his and asked my half mine.
The salsa is flavorless, the one labeled spicy is basically chunky ketchup. I'm a white guy, where is the spice or flavor?? I'd have been happier with Cholula.
The chips were about the only thing that was as expected.
The lemons were super slimy and cut up randomly. The limes were very dry and the green peel had turned yellow where cut. So both are definitely days old from being cut. 🤢
$30 for 2 burritos, small portions, no flavor, and salsa without flavor.
100% will not be back and regret stopping in today.
I checked and the mild salsa wasn't switched with the 'spicy'.
The place was dingy and could use a deep cleaning. I wonder what the kitchen...

First if all, the layout is horrible. There is nowhere to wait on to-go orders, so people generally father around the entrance, causing a pile up at the door.
Then there's the walkway to the salsa bar and drink station, which is wide enough for one person to get through due to the placement of the salsa bar and one of the tables. This causes a constant ballet of people trying to get around each other and bumping the table since that's where you head after placing your order.
Lastly, and most importantly, my salmon tacos tasted fishy. I eat fish probably 5-7 times a week, and I can't remember a restaurant ever serving a meal that tasted fishy. Of course I ate it all anyway and didn't get sick, so it wasn't necessarily spoiled as much as it was low...
