I have no idea why it took me so long to give Forno Osteria & Bar a try. I guess I don't get down to East Hyde Park very often, even though it's only barely over a mile from home. It will definitely not be long before a return visit. Be sure to book an online reservation before going. We did and were treated to an outdoor table of our choice. To start my wife and I split the arugula salad with golden raisins, capers, shaved cauliflower, pistachios, citronette dressing, and parmigiano reggiano ($13). The serving was very generous and the salad was full of flavor. I loved the crunch of the pistachios and cauliflower. I ordered the basil and ricotta tortelloni served with pomodoro sauce, parigiano reggiano, and basil oil ($25). The freshly made pasta is stuffed full and cooked perfectly. The sauce was rich to complement the subtle flavor of ricotta. My wife ordered the asparagus gnudi "Cacio e Pepe" ($21). Gnudi is similar to gnocchi, but the dumplings are made of ricotta cheese and semolina instead of potato flour. These were very light and served in a Vermont butter sauce with asparagus. It was a very flavorful dish, despite the simple presentation. I think I enjoyed the tortelloni better, but both are worthy of ordering again on a future visit.

Came here for dinner before an FC Cincinnati game with my parents. In total we had bread, veal meatballs, fried mushroom/onion/zucchini flower fritters, wild boar ragu and pasta, a marinara pizza, and a sausage + caramelized pizza. To start with veal meatballs, I thought they were the best thing we had. They are made with veal, ricotta, and lemon; the lemon gives it a fresh burst of flavor. But for $12 there are only three...and they arenât very big. I would expect a plate like this, which had A LOT of sauce, to also come with bread. Or bread to be included with any meal. The fried veggies were just okay. Too much breading and some were rather greasy. They tasted much better in the veal meatball sauce. Idk, maybe provide a sauce to go with this plate...something fresh/acidic to cut through the heaviness of the fried breading. The ragu was okay...very oily and it had a strong taste of all spice. I didnât order it and Iâm not sure I would. The flavor of both pizzas was pretty good. To be critical on both pies, they needed to be in the oven a bit longer...for how thin they are the crust needed a bit more crunch. They were fairly difficult to cut with our forks + knives...shouldnât be the case. The staff was friendly and polite, but nothing over-the-top. Overall, food was okay as far as most Italian places go but on the pricier side...3 people for $110 including tip...ouch.

We had the best time here! Located in a great area with lots of things to do. Had no reservation and only a maybe 20 minute wait. We went for a walk in the nice neighborhood close by while we waited. There was also a pub, a Mediterranean Cafe and Thai restaurant next door. Forno has Indoor and outdoor seating available. Wonderful atmosphere all around. I was very happy with my view of the brick pizza oven! The host was great and called me as soon as there was an open table. Our server was perfect, very attentive. I had a margarita and diet coke(: For an appetizer we picked the goat cheese and chestnut honey bruschetta, amazing. We ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese and it was to die for! A real must have. I believe we had the Calabrese pizza, any pizza here is a winner. The food was spectacular and I will be bringing my mom here ASAP. Canât wait to go back.

Our party of four had a reservation for 6:15 on a Friday night on the patio. It was a gorgeous evening and their patio was comfortable (not too big; maybe 6 tables). Our server was attentive and took good care of us. We ordered the bruschetta sampler, which was very good. I ordered the margarita pizza and wished it was a bit more done; it was kind of soggy in the middle, but the flavor was good. Our friends ordered the pasta bolognese and said it was very good. Ordered tiramisu for dessert. It was on the small side, and tasted okay. Overall I think the atmosphere is great, the service attentive, and the food is good. Maybe a bit on the pricey side.
