Okini was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with modern decor that’s both interesting and inviting. The service was excellent, but the food truly stole the show.
We started with the Volcano Tuna appetizer, which was crispy, spicy, and as stunning as it was delicious. Next, we tried the Takoyaki—crispy on the outside, warm and silky on the inside, a real treat. The Chicken Karaage, a Japanese fried chicken dish, was perfectly crispy and tender. We requested lemon pepper seasoning, which elevated this dish to instant-favorite status—it might have been the best of the night.
The Stuffed Jalapeno appetizer was another highlight, with crab filling, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and a crunchy tempura exterior. It wasn’t overly spicy but packed with flavor. Then came the Pho. While I’m not typically a big soup fan, this hearty, flavorful broth with generous portions of meat and noodles was perfect for a cozy fall night.
We also had several sushi rolls, including the Spicy Yellowtail, Y&S Roll, and the Double 12 Roll. All three were fantastic and will definitely be staples for future visits. We finished off with the Gyoza (not pictured), which were golden brown and crispy outside, warm and tender inside, served with the perfect ponzu sauce. It couldn’t have been a better way to start the meal.
Overall, everything—from the food to the service and ambiance—was spot on. Don’t miss the chance to try Okini—you won’t be disappointed! It’s a fantastic addition to the...
Read moreMy 15-yr-old son and I were feeling adventurous and wanted to find a new ramen spot in the city. We landed at Okini and I am glad we did. It’s a hip looking and cozy spot located where the old 3501 Seoul Korean spot once was. We were seated and greeted with a smile and our server was awesome. I started off with the Stuffed Jalapeno appetizer. Whoa!!! It so so flavorful and well presented. My son selected Crab Rangoon as his starter. Considering he chooses this at almost every Asian restaurant that offers it (lol), he was satisfied. The true test was the ramen, which totally passed the vibe and flavor tests. The bowl was piping hot and ratio of broth to noodles was perfect! Everything was fresh. Okini’s interpretation is consistent with what you find in big cities like LA and New York. Their ramen is definitely in the top three of my favorites in the city. If you love ramen like I and my son (The Ramen Guru)...
Read moreOkini is a fun new restaurant find. My wife spotted it driving our kids around town so we came back for a lunch date. While the parking lot is small (maybe 6 or 7 cars max), there is street parking nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
My wife got the sushi lover's plate and I got the 3 rolls lunch special with two rainbow rolls and a crunch roll. The food presentation is great. But let's get to the taste - the sushi at Okini might be the freshest and delicious sushi I have had since moving to Ohio from Los Angeles. The fish just melts in your mouth without the fishy taste usually found in lower grades of fish. I just found my new go to restaurant for sushi!
For those that care, the restroom was very clean and well maintained. I can't wait to come back and try other...
