Aggressive dogs and unresponsive dog owners run amok here. Folks only rarely clean up after their dogs, so dog crap is everywhere, and un-spayed and un-neutered dogs run wild. Owners often pay no attention to their dogs, especially the dumb guy with 4 stupid and obnoxious collies who is a daily regular along with his other buddies, some of whom don't even own dogs. Many folks use this park as a babysitting service while they play on their smartphones, ignoring their dogs that are causing trouble. While we have met a couple very nice people, in general folks do not engage with each other here, a symptom of city culture, we think. I would not be surprised if I were to see a bad owner-to-owner fight here someday - the posted rules are willfully ignored. When my girlfriend has gone without me, she has twice seen aggressive confrontations between people not taking responsibility for their animals, and the group of old men who always hang out there made inappropriate comments to her. We have seen drug deals (hard drugs, not 420 which isn't a big deal) happen more than a few times in the parking lot and often non-dog owners will be silently sitting in their cars just....waiting - a bit unsettling if you are there alone. Sometimes "Don't Tread On Me" open-carry wingnuts will be there, which makes some people, including us, very uncomfortable. It would be nice of they charged a nominal fee ($5 a month?) to help weed out careless people and also to contribute to a part-time...
Read moreI took my newly adopted puppy whose never been around dogs outside of his liter. He’s a barker so I’m never sure if he’s being playful or aggressive. I made it to the entrance gate with him barking at the fence the entire time, before i decided I didn’t know his temperament well enough to risk the other dogs safety. Just I turned around, a lady asked me if I was coming in. I explained my dog has never been before and I was nervous. She offered to let her dog in the closed off entrance with mine on a leash. As my dog barked the entire time we talked. Both dogs played great and my dog stopped barking once in the gate. Then every single other dog owner brought their dog to mine one by one. Everyone was so nice I was holding back tears. My dog ended up happily playing with 5+ dogs of all sizes! I couldn’t believe how nice all these...
Read moreOkay, wasn't great. I have an artificial knee and bone-on-bone arthritis in the other, so I wasn't a fan of the up hill treak just to get to the dog park entrance. Then the park itself is on a saddle back hill, which is sort of flat in the center and slops off to either side, providing a bit of a challenge just to walk the perimeter. No trash cans inside the park to dispose of poop bags, you need to hold on to it until you leave through the double gates where one trash can was located. Agility equipment was skimpy and in need of a bit of TLC. The kiddie pools that they boast about were pretty well beat up and in pretty poor shape. There were three aggressive large dogs there when we visited, so we didn't spend much time there. Don't plan...
