I hadn't had Chinese food in years and was looking forward to some old favorites. This is my first time ordering from Hunan Garden. They're online menu was easy to navigate and I had placed my order in just a couple of minutes. When I arrived for pickup, the food was ready and on time. The woman behind the counter was very nice, and it was a quick and easy in and out with the food.
The food was just on the low side of mediocre. The General Tso's chicken was OK, but there was no spice to it. The BBQ spare ribs had a funky taste to them that wasn't pleasant. The Kung Po Chicken with Peanuts had no peanuts in it!! Was I supposed to specify that I wanted peanuts? In addition to the flavor being incredibly bland, there was no spice, which I would expect with the flame symbol next to it on the menu. The veggies in Kung Po were limited to green peppers, carrot wedges, and a mystery vegetable which I can only guess was cubed broccoli stalks. The egg rolls were tasty, but very greasy.
When I had Chinese in the past, I would always look forward to leftovers. The prices at Hunan Garden are inexpensive and the amount of food that you get for the price is great. But the quality of the food has to be there. Sadly, while I had leftovers, they were not saved for another meal. I think this restaurant would do well to raise their prices by a buck or two per meal and spend a little more on quality...
Read moreSolid Two Stars Ordered standard food; Wonton soup, Dumplings, General TSOs chicken, Pork fried rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken. Went in to order, food was ready in 15m. This alarmed me for the amount I ordered .
The dumplings tasted like old fryer oil, and they were over fried and hard to chew. General Tso's chicken was decent but lacked any peppers they usually stash in there. Pork fried rice was ok. Lacked the flavor it used to have. Wonton soup had no ginger in it and was mostly oil. The noodle was chewy and not fresh.
Food was overpriced for the portions , a quart of fried rice was in a pint container and the pint was way smaller than an old school pint. What happened to the sizes!?
I'm turned off by Chinese fast food for good I think. In general , takeout Has gone hill , McDonald's isn't what it used to be, taco bell was an absolute disappointment last I had it , Wawa has been mediocre and what the heck happened to American cheese at the deli? It's not real American cheese anymore it's that melty, single slice Kraft cheese. I'm very disappointed in the food industry as of lately . Srry to all I've mentioned but what's happening to...
Read moreI’m sorry to say this but this was most definitely the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Not only did it taste like it had no seasoning but the food that was attempted to have flavor had the funniest taste ever. I got a platter of vegetable lo mein with chicken and broccoli and 4 chicken wings. The lo mein tasted like nothing. Like actually like nothing. The chicken was light bright as if they barely cooked it and then I got a free egg roll that tasted like it was old and they just needed to get rid of it. And then to top it off the next day I got food poisoning and had to throw out all the food even though I like to leave a good portion for lunch or dinner the next day. $22 gone 😩. I’m never going back here again I’m...
