Well. The ladies room door stuck so badly that my mother was unable to open it when we visited for the last time 2 weeks ago. That is a huge problem for elderly people. The bathroom needs to actually be accessible otherwise they don't have one.
Cricket has been a place I'd visit with family on occasion for breakfast or brunch for years. I can't think of a time in my life that it hasn't been here, even though it's changed ownership it's stayed basically the same.
I took my mother in a couple weeks ago. There was some kind of drama about the bathroom that my mother had wanted to talk to the manager about. The manager was straight up rude, walked away to help other customers several times while my mom was trying to talk to her about a sensitive topic. Then she jumped all over my mom, saying that she was the rude one. The thing my mom did that was rude was saying "fix it" because the bathroom door stuck so bad she couldn't open it, at all.
I am glad that the manager sticks up for her employees, but without customers they can't stay in business. No one will keep going to eat at a place that doesn't have a bathroom. I admit, when I saw the manager at the store in her work shirt the following Sunday. After I finally had the story of what happened from my mom, I let the manager have it. She had kept walking away while she was supposed to be representing the owner while at the Cricket. Maybe I should have been a grown up and instead of yelling that "we are never going there again and that Brookfields is way better" I should have asked, "Did you fix the bathroom yet"? I should have asked, why did she treat my mother that way. I'll never know, because we aren't going back. Brookfields has way more vegetarian...
Read moreGood, solid American cafe food! I'd been driving by this place an noticing the crowd of people outside for years. I finally stopped in on a Tuesday morning and I must say that I was impressed. The decor is super cute and eclectic, I especially loved the motorized train that runs along a raised track above diners while they eat. The menu was extensive and everything sounded yummy. I chose the corned beef hash breakfast with 3 over easy and pancakes. My dining companion chose the steak and eggs breakfast with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. My hash was fried and crunchy, I liked that it was made using actual corned beef and not canned mush. The pancakes were nice and light, the steak was so tender that it literally pulled apart without really needing the steak knife and the country gravy on the biscuits was well seasoned. I had a sunrise lemonade to drink, it's a glass of lemonade with a scoop of frozen strawberries on top and my dining companion had cranberry juice. The servers were all very friendly and welcoming and the bus boy returned not one but two lost phones to us as were paying our check. The lady at the register was very sweet and friendly, she told us a little bit about restaurant and the crystals in the display case. We got peach cobbler to go for a snack later on. Even hours later the crust still held up and hadn't dissolved. I liked the fresh peach slices and the not soo sweet and syurpy juice. I will definitely be returning to Cricket's country kitchen and would recommend this restaurant to my...
Read moreFirst of all, this place is highly rated on all sites by the locals. It's definitely no secret around here. When I had the opportunity to eat breakfast anywhere and somebody else was paying for it I had to put a considerable amount of thought into my choice of restaurants. Then I began asking all of my coworkers and friends the same question to find out their opinion of the best kept secret most highly recommended breakfast restaurant. Cricket Country Kitchen was mentioned in every single response I gathered. So when I almost passed up for this little restaurant driving down the road I knew that it was definitely a local Secret. Upon entering your eyes are cluttered with the most fascinating and unique knick knacks anybody has collected. Seating was prompt so was the server. The menu is exactly what I predicted which included a little bit of everything. What I chose to eat was some sort of breakfast scramble and I must admit it is definitely a man's plate because it was stuffed with the meat and potatoes. It definitely filled me up. There is even a cute little train that circles overhead in the back room I wish my kids would have been there to see. I will be back again as I feel there is so much more I didn't get to enjoy because I was eating during breakfast hours. Next time I'm going to try a...
