March 2025 Stay at Wyndham Sacramento Overall Rating: 9/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Check-In/Staff/Service
My stay at Wyndham Sacramento exceeded expectations, delivering exceptional value, comfort, and service. Located right off I-80 the hotel offers modern rooms with amenities and a standard of service that rivals pricier competitors. Check-in was the smoothest I’ve ever experienced, taking only 30 seconds thanks to the online pre-check-in system. The staff was friendly, attentive, and proactive, swiftly handling my special requests, including a quiet room, additional microwave, room change due to a broken heater, and switching to a room with two beds without issue. Checkout was equally efficient.
Rooms Rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, featuring high-quality beds, linens, cable TV, coffee maker (restocked on request), hairdryer, microwave (upon request), and mini toiletries. The mini-fridge was too small, even for short stays. Free Wi-Fi and reliable enough for basic business tasks, though signal strength was weak and the password overly complicated.
Safety/Cleanliness Safety and cleanliness were excellent, with well-maintained hotel grounds and meticulous housekeeping service available upon request. The hotel area felt secure, and the staff ensured a comfortable experience, promptly addressing issues like faulty key cards, though these required multiple reactivations, an inconvenience remedied somewhat by providing multiple cards or multiple sleeves.
Amenities Amenities were impressive. Spacious, 24-hour gym with new treadmills, weight racks, towels, and a water dispenser. The outdoor pool and covered spa (6 am–10 pm) were clean, comfortable, and accessible via keycard. The Arbor Grille restaurant appeared upscale and elegant, though I didn’t dine there. The adjacent bar offered a fantastic atmosphere with engaging service from Jason, an exceptional bartender who made happy hour (Wednesday–Saturday, 4–6 pm) enjoyable with great drinks, calamari, spicy wings, and lively conversation. Limited bar hours, however, were a significant drawback given its quality and potential.
There was no real business center for guests; the advertised facility is actually a rentable conference room setup. The lobby printer was available, but usage details were unclear. No laundry facilities available on-site, only laundry service by request. The snack shop behind the front desk offered limited options, lacking essential travel items like medications, toiletries and phone chargers.
Conveniences included ample free parking suitable for truckers, an ATM, attraction brochures, and express check-in/out. No USB-C charging ports or wireless chargers in rooms, no pet accommodations, and no complimentary breakfast (available for purchase). Access to rooms was limited to the front entrance, creating inconvenience for guests parked on the side or back.
Suggestions for improvement:
•Expand the snack shop with travel essentials
•Clarify/provide a genuine business center
•Open bar daily (even briefly)
•Offer larger refrigerators
•Improve keycard technology or sleeves
•Add side entrances
•Install guest laundry facilities
•Improve Wi-Fi speed
Highlights:
•Seamless check-in/check-out
•Professional, accommodating staff
•Modern, comfortable rooms
•Outstanding gym, pool, and spa
•Excellent bar service, engaging atmosphere/Bartender
•Exceptional price-to-quality ratio
Notable drawbacks:
•Unreliable keycards
•Limited bar hours
•Misleading “business center”
•No guest laundry
•Limited snack/essentials shop
•Small refrigerators
•Lack of side entrance
Wyndham Sacramento delivers impressive value with upscale amenities and exceptional service at a mid-tier price. Ideal for business travelers. Minor improvements could elevate this hotel to near perfection. I’d happily return.
Most notable issues being Faulty key cards Limited Bar hours No business center No guest laundry facilities lack-luster snack bar/no essentials Needs a side entrance

Read more5 Stars! I’ve driven past the Wyndham Sacramento thousands of times, and this was my first time staying. I was, and still am, so impressed with what I experienced as a guest.
The thing I value the most is how awesome the staff is—from the front desk attendants to the maintenance engineer and their professional and respectful housekeeping staff. Not once was I ever rushed when deciding to extend my stay last minute, nor did I ever get those phone calls trying to rush me along at checkout. The housekeeping supervisor would politely knock on the door (with her hand and not the key card—thank you 🙏🏻), ask my status, say thank you, and that was it. I appreciate these gestures the most!
Check-in and check-out were seamless. They communicate through a welcome text message, and you can reply if needed. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and updated. The condition looks and feels new and well-maintained. The water is hot and arrives quickly without fluctuation in pressure or temperature. The AC/heater works well and is clean. They have cable TV with plenty of channels, a desk and chair, a dresser, a mini fridge, a microwave, a Keurig, an ice bucket with cups, and plenty of comfortable lighting with electrical plugs everywhere. The bed was so comfortable, with pillows and plenty of clean linens—shoutout to the linens department! On each side of the bed were modern nightstands and lamps, and the room even had a comfortable chair with an ottoman. The window opened enough to let fresh air in, and it wasn’t very loud despite the nearby roadways. Blackout curtains were floor-to-ceiling, easy to open, and provided privacy and a quiet, comfortable sleeping environment.
One thing I think a lot of people can appreciate is that every room is accessed from an internal hallway, so you don’t have to worry about the elements while bringing your things in and taking them out. Additionally, the floor I was on had an ice machine that was always full. That right there is a must-have, and I appreciate that.
I believe it’s the little things that separate good properties from great ones. Simple things like an appropriately sized toilet, a sturdy towel rack fully stocked with all the towels you need, and a refrigerator where the freezer actually freezes items. Having key cards that work every single time without needing to be reprogrammed. Attention to detail in areas such as no dust behind the TV or filthy air conditioner units.
They have a sparkling pool, and hot jacuzzi. The Workout room was well rounded! The footprint of this building is massive, with ballrooms and two separate restroom facilities, a grand fountain in the ballroom entrance, and even a restaurant. Host your next event here!
The only improvements I can suggest are boosting the Wi-Fi and regular upkeep on the luggage carts, which they had plenty of, but a couple needed servicing. I’m not here to watch TV, so it didn’t really affect me, but the programming and unit are a little outdated—updating service providers and technology would enhance the overall experience. That said, it works great as it is. With six floors, CORRECTION 4/9/25 - There are 3 elevators. One near the pool, and two at the opposite end of the - walking towards I-80.
Last thing I’ll say is that meeting the other guests was great. Everyone was polite and cordial. I didn’t hear any noise, yelling, or issues during my stay whatsoever.
TL;DR
Incredible stay at Wyndham Sacramento! The staff is professional and respectful, with no pressure during checkout. Rooms are clean, updated, and comfortable, with great amenities. The hotel has a massive footprint with ballrooms, a pool, a gym, and a restaurant. Small details like a full ice machine, strong water pressure, and well-maintained rooms make a big difference. Only minor improvements needed, like Wi-Fi and luggage cart maintenance. Overall, a fantastic stay with a peaceful and...
Read moreI chose to give the Crowne a 3 because of some glaring ridiculousness. Check in was streamlined (Booking.com) and I stayed in a Single, King, executive style (whatever that is)... Covid protocols stated masks (however, only about 50% of the guests I came into contact with were wearing). The room was on the 2nd floor. Upon entry, I headed to the "Vessel style sink" to wash my hands, only to find the drain was plugged (see pic)..so pretty gross. Further inspection of the shower/tub showed a few long, black hairs, so not a great way to start. The main room was nice, and fairly clean; although the carpeting is ancient and frazzled. AC was kicking out cold air and actually made it snow, which was a huge plus for me being a hot sleeper. I ended up staying 5 days (did most of the cleaning myself) but it was on the morning of the 3rd day that truly tested my patience with this property. At roughly 7:30 am a loud knocking started. I thought it might be housekeeping, but noone at the door. The infernal banging continued through the morning (I actually recorded it on my phone) and when I went to the front desk to have them run my key again, I explained to the front desk manager what was going on. I played a portion of the recording and showed her the the bar graph that showed the louder spikes. I also explained that I'm kinda a night owl and was working until 3 am, so I was very disappointed that my sleep had been ruined. Her reply was a curt, "must be the neighbor, they are checking out today, so it should get better"??? Serious? I spend $160/night to basically tell me I'm out of luck and not even a apology? I entertained leaving the property at the moment, but I had already paid and it was just convenient to stay. *Fortunately, the other front desk managers were very friendly and helpful throughout the 5 days. The pool was clean and people were swimming. Lobby is huge and has a waterfall fountain that produces some great white noise. There is a grill on site (however, it is closed due to COVID, but I understand that it attracts a lot of people from the vicinity, that come for a drink and grub). The business center consists of 2 Lenovo computers that failed to boot up (I needed to print some papers) but I was able to send the file to the front desk and a very helpful manager (in the evening) printed it out for me (she waived the 10 cent/copy, so that was very nice). Overall, the hotel has some glaring issues, but suffices in a situation like mine. *I was trying to escape the smoke from the Caldor Fire in El...
