Friendly and good food. The sweet n sour pork has good meat in it, which makes it better than other places with questionable chunks of pork. The honey walnut shrimp was as expected and unexpectedly came with white rice. The shrimp were completely de-veined and plump, but a few extra walnut pieces would be nice. I was sad about the fried rice, it was dry and not fully flavorful - there was no distinct smokey pork flavor. It tasted like fried rice without meat, but I could see small pieces of meat. It was tasty, totally edible, but on the dry side. The entire dish was minced, including the rice, which was weird to me. I prefer whole grains of rice, whole peas and pea-sized chunks of other veggies and pork. The chicken chow mein was excellent. I'll come back and try other things - but fried rice is my favorite thing to get, so 😕 Good sized portions, very quick order to table, very friendly - nice hosts. And they use the card stock cartons for take out when possible, instead of foam clams for everything, which I didn't know I would appreciate so much! The chow mein is excellent the next day, too! I forgot to order egg rolls and foil wrapped chicken, so I have to visit again! The atmosphere and decor are typical strip-mall Chinese restaurant, which is exactly how it should be! I'll bring some...
Read moreEdit: This used to be the best Chinese food out of anywhere I’ve been in California. Today (11/21/24) my husband and I got 2 lunch plates. Both general chicken, one with all rice and one with rice and chow mein. First off, the rice was bland as to where it used to almost have a grilled flavor to it and it had so much flavor. The chow mein had one piece of celery in it, no cabbage and no onion plus the noodles were so over cooked it was falling apart eating it with a fork. The general chicken was dry. They didn’t bother to toss it in the sauce. There was sauce in the bottom of my plate but the chicken looked like it may as well have just been fried pieces of chicken! I guess I’ll just toss my own chicken! The sauce used to have the perfect balance of sweet, tang and spiciness Now it just tastes overly sweet. Not only was it not the best Chinese, I’ve only had one other Chinese food that was worse and that’s a place in Yuba City. Sorry to say but I will never come back again. Not sure if this place sold and it’s all new management/ownership or what. I used to use them to cater events all the time too! I used to always get helped by Michelle. Very sad this place has gone down hill!

Read moreAfter a daunting, yet necessary trip to Sacramento for a few days, we ended our experience here.
We were hoping to get to Hop Sing tucked in Old Folsom.. Been going there since I was 5, worth it, yet the traffic and time.. We just didn't have that. Better half found the Pearl House reviews, bonus it was near where we were staying.
I wasn't paying much attention until I saw our location and then my brain kicked in. "I remember this place".
Sure enough, they've been there over 40 years. A strip mall hole in the wall with great food.
Loved the large fish tank, felt like 1978 inside. Super friendly people.
We ordered Mushu Pork, Chicken Chow Mein and a Sizzling Meat Platter.
Out come those ample players with piled high steamy goodness, just as it should be. We filled our bellies and then packed a box for my mom. It was a great ending to this life chapter.
If you like good food at today's decent prices, served abundantly and cooked right, good place for eat in or ordered.
Next time we will try the Egg Fu Young and Sweet n Sour chicken.
I think we dropped $40 and we still...
