The food was amazing. A bit pricey, though.
The service was terrible. Had to wait a considerable amount of time just to get our waitress to show up. Ordered a Margarita drink and took 1 sip...wow...extremely spicey. We should have been told about that drink. Had the waitress remove it from the table and replace it with a different drink. Was expecting the extremely spicey drink to have been removed from the bill but it was not.
Had my salad delivered with just a fork. We were never given a napkin or other utensils. Had to track down the waitress to get table ware. In the meantime the salad was completed with no knife or napkin so I had to cut with my fork. Am not very happy about that. Tried to flag down the waitress but the waitress would walk near the table and not look in the direction of our table to see waving hands trying to get her attention.
Drink delivery service was extremely slow even when the waitress said I will get that drink right away.
The entree was delivered, an aged steak bone in. Now, at any other restaurant when a steak is ordered a.steak knife is always provided. NOT here. Had to wait for the staff to appear to ask for a steak knife.
The food was amazing for both of us.
I would try this restaurant one more time in the future since the food was amazing, but we had better have the proper service.
I consider this restaurant a somewhat high grade restaurant but our experience with the waitress was terrible.
Right after we were seated our waitress attended to us and took our drink order. No table ware was provided. A few minutes later and just before our waitress arrived with our water, a waiter attended to us with a greeting and placed table ware with napkins on the table. Immediately our waitress showed up and said I've already started this table. The waiter said oh and grabbed the table ware/ utensils and removed them and until we asked we did not receive replacements which was close to a half hour later. Terrible terrible service and apparently some in house fighting going on that needs to be addressed.
We frequent a breakfast restaurant a few times a week and at that restaurant ALL of their staff attends to ALL customers. In other words as their staff walks by if a customer needs refills of their coffee or water or whatever...no problem...they all take care of it. NOT at Grillsmith-Carrolwood.
Update : 9/15/2020. I received a reply from one of the managing partners of Grillsmith indicating to get in contact with her about making another experience at this restaurant a 5 star experience. I replied to that request and asked what/how she planned to make this happen. My reply was on 9/5/2020. I have not heard back from this managing partner of Grillsmith. Another situation where the service and support is lacking and management / ownership apparently does not care about their...

Let me start by saying this one was an absolute fantastic experience from start to finish. We've driven past this place several times and finally took the opportunity to experience it for ourselves. When the wife and I arrived and entered the lobby area about 6pm on a Saturday night, we were greeted by a young, well dressed, attractive, female hostesses that asked if we had a reservation. The wife and I both looked at each other and immediately thought the worst. With that, we were pleasantly surprised when told they could seat us without any kind of wait. It wasn't until we were actually seated, we were able to fully take in the atmosphere. The warm lighting, rustic decor, and surf and turf smell filled the air. A large party of 20 to 25 people were sitting near the front door, celebrating a 100th birthday. They appeared to be enjoying their celebration and the public celebration obviously provided a welcoming feeling throughout the restaurant. We were greeted by our server, Gabby, who quickly developed rapport with her knowledge of the menu and explaining the happy hour discounts and specials. This set the stage for a fantastic meal...
I ordered the 'Happy Hour Appetizer' Pub Pretzel , the Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Pasta, and a couple of margaritas. The Pretzel and beer cheese were on point! The red peppers in melted American & Cheddar cheese dip was awesome. It was flavorful and a little spicy providing a welcome after taste. A real value for only $5. The beer cheese also paired well with the complintary garlic and herb breadsticks. The main course didn't disappoint either. The shrimp and huge pieces of chicken were cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The serving size was more than this guy could finish which is a task for any restaurant.
The wife had the Fillet Tip Egg Roll appetizer, Southwest Cilantro-Lime Salad (hold the avocado), and a glass of Pinot. She loved hers as much as I loved mine - happy wife, happy life.
Cost analysis: 2 happy hour appetizers, 2 great meals, 2 margaritas, 1 glass of wine, endless breadsticks, and two take home to-go boxes for less than $85 including the tip = major value and a win!
Overall, my best rating yet! Check out the website for yourself that includes pictures of all menu items. Highly recommended and perfect Saturday night...

I'd gotten just a small taste of their chicken milanese and filet tip egg rolls during a private event, and knew I had to come back to try them again. I've been to some places in the past that were phenomenal for events, but run-of-the-mill on a regular night. Not this place.
The egg rolls were just as delicious as I'd remembered them. Mind you, I don't eat mushrooms and I really dislike bleu cheese -- do not let either of these ingredients deter you from this appetizer! The mushrooms are easy enough to spot that you can get rid of them if you like, and the bleu cheese is not at all overpowering, which is my main gripe with it usually.
But hands down, my favorite thing here is the chicken milanese. You can get a half-size portion for their lunch menu, which is the perfect amount of food. Or if you come for dinner, you can eat one of the breasts and take the other as leftovers. I'd like to point out that I'm the worst when it comes to actually eating leftovers, but this is one of those rare exceptions. It reheats well and is super flavorful. It comes with rice, which is good, but when I'm in the mood for it, I change my side to the au gratin potatoes, which are to die for.
On my last visit, I opted to mix it up for a change and get the 6 oz. port wine filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly (at first it looked slightly underdone, but I let it sit a minute or two and it was exactly what I was looking for), and the port wine reduction sauce is a great accompaniment. That being said, once I was done, I wished I'd gotten the chicken instead -- I mean, it's just that good.
My dad and I split their grand marnier creme brulee, which was surprisingly light and fluffy... almost a cross between a mousse and a custard. It wasn't dense like we were expecting, and we happily finished it. My dad in particular is a connoisseur of creme brulee and even he was impressed -- that's...
