The Room Exchange — Local services in Citrus Park

Love the name 'The Room Exchange'! They really name it! We got a referral from one of our good friends a few years ago when this store was in Lutz. Since then, we have dropped by time to time and looked around their furniture and decorating items. The Tampa location is even very close to our office and we can easily come by! Whenever we visit the store, they greet us but do not push us like asking for questions a customer may have every other minute. So, we normally enjoy to look around and quietly leave if we don't find a right fit to us. We've recently moved our house and needed to "exchange" some of our furniture. We sold ours to The Room Exchange and purchased several furniture like dining table, tables and cabinets. The sales process was smooth and I was glad that all our old furniture was sold within a month. The pickup and delivery were smooth and the truck guys really cared each piece.

Especially my recent visit was very impressive. We purchased a corner cabinet two days ago. They had two same pieces but we purchased only one piece. When we brought it to our house, we realized one little wooden piece was missing on the side. Regardless of the missing piece, it was just perfect to our dining room and we decided to buy the other shelf as well. Next day, we came into the store and talked to Sue. (She helped us when purchased the first piece.) We explained her about the missing piece and asked if she can check if the piece was found somewhere in the store or inventory. It was nowhere, but then she was trying to find a solution. She talked to the owner. The owner came to us, explained us how to make it and then finally one of his staffs crafted a small piece just like the missing one perfectly. They are not only professional but serious to care...

Inept at best. I called them and spoke to a woman about bringing in my grandparents formal dining room furniture for them to sell. The woman told me that the next available day for drop off was 3 weeks out, so I made the appointment and gave her my name. That was all that she and I spoke about. She asked me not one question about the set. She did not ask me to send photos or describe the set in any way. I showed up with a truck bed full of furniture 3 weeks later only to be told by their staff that they would not take the set due to the chairs having a rattan backing and they are difficult to sell. I then asked for the manager. He confirmed what I had been told by his staff. This company does one thing and one thing only - take your furniture and home goods and sell them for you. You then split the money at the agreed upon rate. You would think that after being in business for years that there would be some sort of method or protocol when fielding calls about a client bringing in an ENTIRE SET OF HEAVY FURNITURE. Apparently not. The owner was kind enough to offer selling the beautiful hutch that came with the set. As if I would conduct business with them on any level going forward. The set was donated to Goodwill where I hope it can help someone. That wonderful bit of karma is the only reason they got one star (Oh, and they don't let you leave none on Google)....

We consigned 2 sofas to The Room Exchange. There was a very small charge for pickup since we live outside their normal pickup/delivery area but the charge was very reasonable. The person who picked up the sofas helped us to set the consignment prices. We signed an agreement where we would receive 50% of the consignment price upon sale, and that the Room Exchange could drop our selling price by 10% if it didn't sell within 30 days, 20% if it didn't sell within 60 days and 30% if if didn't sell within 90 days. The first sofa sold in the first month and The Room Exchange literally cut a check to us on the last day of the month in which it sold, and we received it shortly after. Just over 3 months later, the second sofa sold at 70% of our original asking price and we received that check too, shortly after the end of the month. We never felt the need to follow up with the Room Exchange to see if our sofas had sold as the checks arrived promptly and we knew we were dealing with very honest and trust worthy people.
