I have been going to this place for years since the owners were kids, and this place has consistently gone downhill over the years. The food is sometimes hit or miss. When it's a hit, the food is great, but that is not always the case. More of a miss than hit lately. After this last visit, I felt I finally needed to say something. I live right around the corner from this place, and I'm always there when my food is coming out or just placed on the table to be picked up. I was there just this past Thursday evening, and the broccoli in the dish looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Dull in color and no crunch. I should have taken photos because I only ordered a dish with broccoli and got majority rice. When you order a small entree, pretty much the entire container is filled with rice, and they put a very small amount of meat and veggies on top of it. Other restaurants in the area don't do this. It seems like your prices have gone up to fill the containers with rice. I'd rather pay more for my entree somewhere else and actually get what the menu says, rather than pay for a container full of rice. Not everyone is friendly here. If one of the owners checks you out, you get friendly service. If not, it's very dry and impersonal. The eating area is not inviting in the least. As soon as you walk in, there are flattened boxes on the floor, leading up to the counter. I feel like I am going to slip when walking on them. Another eyesore is their overflow stock. It's everywhere. This place used to be my go-to place for the best takeout in town. I can't say...
Read moreI informed them that on my new diet of no bread or rice (or sugar) I can not eat rice. I asked if instead of the rice that comes standard with their meals, such as Mongolian Beef, I could have a little bit more of the vegetables that also come with it. It seemed like a fair request--a few more vegetables in place of the rice I could not eat, so I would not be hungry after the meal.
The manager--Whitney--said no. She said that I would receive the rice whether I wanted it or not. It was up to me if I did not want to eat it. She said, "no substitutions" and suggested I buy a side of vegetables for two or three dollars more. She did not speak in a rude tone, but she showed absolutely no concern for the customer. In fact, she seemed to think I was doing something wrong by suggesting an alternative, like I was trying to get over on them.
Whitney's decision and her indifference to the dietary needs of one customer has cost Bamboo Express a family of regular customers--probably several hundred dollars a year.
I will add that the other restaurants I frequent have been accommodating. For example, Village Inn suggested a side of fruit instead of the pancakes that were standard with the meal. Chipotle serves more vegetables when I decline rice and beans in their...
Read moreWhy this place has an average of 4 stars I do not understand at all. Rice is plain and has no flavor what so ever. Sauce for sweet and sour chicken is not sweet and sour sauce but a watered down tangy sauce that is gross and chunky in some parts liquidy in other parts. Chicken itself for sweet and sour chicken is overly greasy but not even crunchy really gross. I want my money back honestly what a waste. General tsos chicken had no crisp what so ever it was soft, and squishy with a weird sauce that tasted liked bbq mixed with cayenne pepper and Adobo. Who the hell would rate this as good Chinese food? Yuck yuck yuck never again in my life. 11.50 for a combo plate that should be free. I don't know how you guys are making your food but I know it's not fresh, must be microwaved or days old. Ewww I honestly don't even think I want to eat Chinese food again. Please don't go here or waste your money. My comment is genuine and I don't want you to be disappointed like me. The spring roll was good though. Everything else ewww I literally want...
