We have eaten here for about 10 years now. It's been one of our favorite mom and pop places for breakfast and lunch. This last visit just might be our final visit. We came in after the lunch rush so we weren't too bothered with all the dirty tables as there was only one server. Normally therenare at least 2 and they are just as friendly as ever. Due to the one server it did take a while to get waited on. We were understanding. When it came to ordering food, we did order items we never ordered before and had some questions. The server was not knowledgeable of the menu, definite language barrier. Ordered the soup and half sandwich. The broccoli cheese soup was cold, didn't taste fresh or was from a can and too thick. I asked for crackers and the server didn't understand what I was asking for. When I said Saltines, they asked the cook. The server came back with a small plate with a few crackers on it. They were not in a sealed package you normally get. They were stale. It seems the crackers came from a box/sleeve of crackers (server was not wearing gloves). The sandwich was par. The hamburger we ordered was tolerable. The fries were the best part. We understand that prices have increased over the past year or 2. However, nearly $30 vefore tip for a burger, fries, cup of soup, half sandwich, hot tea and sweet tea was a little much. We left still hungry as much of the food wasn't eaten. While there the t.v. was on at the counter. A customer that was drinking a hot beverage and toast got up, went behind the counter and changed the channel. Not for nothingnwe were paying attention to the t.v. and no one asked if anyone minded if the channel was changed. The customer apparently felt they were at home and could do what they wanted. By far the worst service and food we have ever had there. I'm not sure if there was a management or ownership change or not but it was not a great experience. I hate to see a place that has been around for so many years go...
Read moreThis review was a bit more challenging than many of my other ones. We dined here on Friday 12/23/22. My wife and I were immediately greeted by the hostes/cashier. There were 3 maybe 4 other tables occupied as we arrived after the morning rush and before the lunch rush. The waitress quickly brought our menus and took our drink orders. Our coffees and orange juices came out soon after. Coffee wasn't anything great. Had that popcorn flavor many lower quality coffees have but it was drinkable.
Our orders were taken in a reasonable time. My wife ordered the waffle combo. I ordered an Philly omelet add bacon. This is were our experience went downhill.
It took over 40 minutes for a basic breakfast to be served. The last 5 minutes of the wait our food was sitting on the ledge ready for the server to bring to us but she was engaged in conversation behind me with a friend or family member. Our coffee cups had quickly gone dry during the wait but even after pushing the empty cups to the edge of the table to garner attention, they weren't refilled until just prior to our food being brought out.
This alone would have taken off 1 star but then my wife's waffle was cold and with cold butter, couldn't be spread properly. She said it tasted and had the texture of a warmed up frozen waffle. The syrup was artificial, eh. My food wasn't hot but was better than warm. The only reason this place got 3 stars was because my omelet was cheesy and delicious.
The icing on the cake was the bill, $42. 2 ppl. 2 sub-$10 meals, coffee, & OJ.
No one was rude to us. However, serving their guests (at least this day) wasn't a...
Read moreFirst of all I want to say this place is super expensive I order a large orange juice and it was the same size as a water glass, i an breakfast quesadilla with bacon and sausage and an extra egg and it was still the same size as a regular one, the meat was not cooked it looked like it was old meat that had been sitting there tossed together very quickly and was not fresh and then the waitress wants to argue with me and tell me that they make everything fresh to order when that was not the case I mentioned it to her and she acted like if she did not care she just wanted to get out of there and the only thing that was fresh out of my meal was the corned beef hash that I ordered on the side which was basically the same amount as my breakfast cost and my bill came out to almost $30 for an extra egg large orange juice corned beef hash and a side of toast with my breakfast like the quesadillas is cut into four pieces and I mentioned to the waitress hey did they put the extra egg in there and she said to me that's the end piece it doesn't have much egg mind you this is why I ordered an extra egg she acted like if she didn't care to try to remake my order freshly done I will not be going back there nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a good breakfast experience and it's really sad that it use to be a pretty good place to eat...
