Visited a week ago with my mom. We ordered the Arancini as an appetizer, and for the main course I had Spaghetti alle Vongole and my mom ordered the Penne alPesto e Funghi.
Customer Service- Our waiter was prepping food behind the counter while attending us. This made him mix up the arancini because I ordered the one with meat and he brought the cheese one. My mom also asked for no bacon in her dish and it came out with bacon. We also had to wait a long time to ask for anything else including the bill so I actually had to walk up to the counter and ask another waiter to help me pay so I could've left.
Food- Overall it was not the best experience. The pasta in both dishes were dreadfully overcooked(if you claim to be an authentic italian place then I expect something close to al dente) and then the arancini were mildly cold in the middle. Looks like they took it out of the freezer and the oil used to fry it was too hot so it did not get cooked in the center. For the Spaghetti alle Vongole the taste was actually really good. What really ticked me off about this dish is that the plate is covered with these small clam shells and was barely given any pasta. I swear it was probably around 2 forks fulls of pasta and that was it for $25. I was fuming and absolutely livid about this. Pasta is cheap, and I left the restaurant hungrier than when I went in. I actually told my mom to wait in the car after as I headed across the street to buy a chipotle bowl after and ate that once I reached home. My mom's dish was okay but there was nothing special about it. Could not taste the pesto sauce at all. Also when I say my dish was covered in clam shells I do mean COVERED!!! This was such an annoyance to eat with. Made getting to the pasta extremely difficult for no reason.
Environment- It was kind of loud with the pizza making station right behind the counter and everyone else talking in a small dining area. I like very active places so I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place but if you are looking for a quiet place to have a date night then I would not come here on a busy night.
Overall review- Food was not worth the money at all for me after paying $60 for everything and then $13 on chipotle after ahahhaha. They shall never see me dine in there again but I saw some people ordering their pizza (from other reviews the pizza is supposed to be good) so maybe in the future I would try their pizza. I tend not to complain in restaurants because I do not see the point. I prefer to just never go back and most of the times I do not leave any reviews but for the price I paid in the end and how bad the overall experience was for me, I had to...
Read moreI went back for the pizza and it was fantabulous. Perfect char, zestfull sauce, savory cheese and a thin crust that was money. A grand slam. Had the Tiramisu with Cappuccino again and left in a blissfull daze. Bumping the rating up to 5 stars.
The clouds part and the 1st cold front arrives signaling the end of summer and there's a magical feeling in the air so I tried that new place that has been loitering in the corner of my mind. Then, as if ordained by the food gods, Spacca Napoli answers the call with sumptuous delights that titillate the senses. I had a gastronomic romp through some of Italia's provinces well worthy of my currency even though there eete some misteps.
I had a refreshing glass of Angelo Poretti #6 beer followed by a glass of Montepulciano Paradosso red that paired perfectly with their red sauce. Both were excellent.
I started with the Octopus Carpaccio where the tentacles are compacted and gelled together then sliced ultra thin and served over greens with bread and orange slices. Visually appealing but over salted to an extreme and the bread was dreadful in a oil sogged heaviness that detracted from the dish. Both rookie errors that have an easy solution.
Next I had the Eggplant Parmesean appetizer which was absolutely delicious. A wonderful sauce, melt in your mouth eggplant with an excellent tasting cheese as a compliment, not too heavy and piping hot. Loved it.
My first entree was a Bechamel and Pistacchio Lasagna. As a cook, I know this dish as a typical northern italian delicacy brought to Italy by Napoleon's chef when he invaded the region. The taste was very good but had 3 slight missteps. The dish was served in a pool of oil, the pasta was a bit chewy and the bechamel was grainy.
The 2nd Lasagna Spacca Napoli was nearly perfect. The pasta was silky soft and accompanied by that wonderful red sauce and cheese. A rich and savory dish that hit all the right notes.
As a finale, they closed with a bang! The homemade Tiramisu with a cup of Cappuccino. An angelic choir sang in the recesses of my mind as I immersed myself completely into the experience. Sublime!
I gave a 4 star rating despite some of the issues for 2 reasons. They are a relatively new business and I noticed that the chef left the premisis just as I arrived. I must assume things would have been better with him there. That happens sometimes when you visit for lunch instead of dinner.
I can't wait to try the pizza, it looked amazing. Come...
Read moreA terrible ordering & dining experience, this pizzeria never fails to disappoint. Today, we ordered online two pizzas and a dessert that were scheduled to be ready at 7:30pm, however we were waiting until 8:10pm (40 minutes past the scheduled pickup time) for the items to come out. During this period, they had to ask us multiple times what our order was (3 menus items that were, as I have stated, ordered ahead on the website…). Not only that, but when one of us complained, we were brushed off, and on the way out one of the employees shouted after us “Just go to Papa John’s”. Well, I can certainly tell you that if you are seeking to order from this establishment, you should simply heed the advice they gave us: after all, you’d be getting a better meal (and how disappointing is that), a better price, and a better customer experience at Papa John’s. (Our order from here was $60 of pure disappointment. Significantly worse than $10 pizzas I’ve had.)
The pizzas themselves, once we got home and were able to try them, were deeply mediocre at best. A tasteless, overly dense crust with undercooked cheese that limply slid off to reveal a near-sauceless base led to a very unappetizing dinner. Truly a miserable experience.
I think it also needs to be made clear that this is not the first time we have had such a time at this place — we are repeat customers of about 8 occurrences.
Prior to this, two other members of my family were literally chased out of the pizzeria by the manager for ‘not paying’ (they had, in fact, already paid, and this was easy to prove via receipt) — suffice to say, that was not an enjoyable encounter.
In conclusion: We will never be going back, and to any readers of this review, I suggest you simply do not put yourself through the misery of ordering from here at all. You’d be better getting a decent cheap pizza from a common chain restaurant than this overpriced slop. That, or find a real pizzeria to dine at.
I’d give 0/5...
