We honestly don’t have words to say how much we love this place! The Thai tea is unbelievable—hands down the best we’ve ever had (and we’ve tried a lot of Thai teas). Our favorite dish is the Amazing Peanut Chicken—absolutely incredible. We also highly recommend the garlic stir-fry, Thai sweet basil, and the Tom Kha soup (a must-have!). We have dinner here at least every 1 or 2 weeks, so we can guarantee the food is always fresh and high quality. For appetizers, the egg rolls and dumplings are our go-to—they never disappoint. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is full of flavor and made with care. We usually order takeout, but every time we stop by, the waitress is super attentive and the owners are always there making sure everything runs smoothly. If you’re looking for delicious and comforting Thai food, this is the spot. Can’t recommend it enough!

They must have changed chefs recently because the quality and the amount of foods have been degrading these days. Take a look at this vegetarian pad thai and tofu tom yum. Not only the portion is extremely small for the amount of money they charge ($12 - $15 per entree average), but the real problem is that they keep putting small amount of mixed vegetable unrelated to some Thai dishes like zucchini, string beans, carrots, white onion, green onion, & bell peppers, etc, which compromise the whole authentic taste of the tom yum sauce or the pad thai sauce, and therefore taste disgusting. This is really insulting to Thai cuisine because none of the other Thai places that I've been to put string bean, zucchini, & bell pepper in pad Thai btw. I'm sorry but we've been frequent customers for the last 4-5 years and so it's sad to see that we have to cross this one off our list for the future.

Stumbled across Thai Sweet Basil tonight and what a great little gem. We were greeted by this lovely lady who waited on us and helped us order. The restaurant is well set up, very clean and the food was fantastic. I had the Yellow Curry with Combination proteins. The curry sauce was fantastic and the veges and meat were perfect. My spouse had the Cashew Stir-Fry with shredded chicken - again the sauce was delicious. And the side of rice is served in the shape of a heart! We also had the fried pot stickers which were very good - I forgot to take a pic. We've definitely found another go to restaurant in the Northdale area. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try!

We have visited this place at least three times and the food is always very good, although the last time when I asked for my dish to be spicy all they did was add a lot of red pepper flakes and it was inedible as the red pepper seeds were tough. Next time which was going to be today when we went I would have asked for not spicy and then added garlic chili paste to aquire the heat I am looking for. We never made it to our main course as the waitresses were rude and indifferent to our needs. We started with the TSB Spring rolls and the Golden Puffs which were very good. There weren't any condiments on the table. When I asked for some condiments like garlic chili paste the waitress told me they don't have it . . . I had it last time? ? ? I felt as though the waitresses didn't want to be there and were being lazy and didn't want to service us. We asked what type of beer do you have . . . she just pointed at the placard on the table. The only person that had a smile was the girl cooking that brought our apps. We found a groupon, $15 for $30 and now realize why they are promoting a groupon within this business as customer service will ruin a business reputation in a hurry. We did notice a lot of people getting take-out . . . may be the way to go for good Thai...

Review for Thai Sweet Basil – Carrollwood, FL

I have been visiting this restaurant for years, but unfortunately, my most recent visit has brought that to an end. Yesterday, I came with my family after driving an hour to dine here — passing up plenty of other amazing restaurants along the way.

At the end of our meal, the waitress handed me the bill and, shockingly, told me, “Six months ago you never left me a tip.” I was completely confused by this statement, and to be singled out and spoken to this way felt not only insulting but defamatory to my character. I came here to enjoy a meal with my family, not to be accused and confronted with such unprofessional behavior.

Yes, the food is good, but it is far from great — and certainly not worth driving an hour for, only to be treated with such disrespect. Customers deserve appreciation for spending their time and money, not to walk away feeling insulted.

Because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I recommend trying other establishments in the area where respect for customers matches the quality of the food:

Jasmine Thai Restaurant – 13248 Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618 Ahi Asian Bistro – 14841 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618 Wandee Asian Fusion – 5915 Memorial Hwy #101,...

Update: I decided to give this place another try. I was really in the mood for Thai and I wanted to support local businesses during this pandemic. The food did taste good that was not my issue. I had ordered the Tom Yum with Shrimp. When ordering it only has one size for $8/$9. I ordered it, I figured at that price it would be at least the quart size container. NOPE! It was the pint sized container with 4 pieces of shrimp!! I couldn't believe it! How are you going to charge that much money for 4 shrimp, onions, and a few mushrooms?! Like I said, the food is good, but RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED!!! That is total robbery what they are charging!

I have ordered from here quite a few times now, and although the food does taste good, the protein portion in whatever dish you get is so not worth the price. Example: I had ordered a shrimp and noodle dish at dinner and only had 5 shrimp in it for approximately $13 plus $2 for shrimp option. And while it did taste good, it was hardly worth the price to only have 5 pieces of shrimp. I cannot speak for service as I have only ordered through Uber Eats and had it delivered. If we give it another try and the amount of protein increases for the price paid, I will...
