Wok On By has good days and bad. The first two times I've gone were pretty solid. About medium solid, I would say. But today was pretty weak.
I paid ~$8 for honey chicken, rice, and an eggroll. The eggroll was good, the meal itself was not that great, and the fortune cookie was on the verge of going stale. For a meal so packed full of sodium and fat it just came off as bland and didn't really do anything for me. Of course, I went ahead and ate the whole thing anyways.
Right now I am currently in the post-meal stage that is equal parts sadness, disappointment, and regret. I'm not sure if I'll be able to look at myself in the mirror for at least a few more hours. Did I really need to eat a full meal of Chinese food at 3:31pm? And what's worse is that if I had gone just two minutes sooner I would've been able to get a lunch special. So I just really don't know what to do with myself at this point.
But if you have a hankering for some Chinese food, just know that by coming to Wok on By you risk showing up one of their bad days. If you don't want to take the risk, and are willing to spend a few dollars extra, try Sushi-Haru (Japanese) or Thai Sweet Basil (Thai). They are just around the corner and directly across from...
Read moreThe fried rice was absolutely phenomenal—easily the best I’ve ever had, and for the price, it was an absolute steal. Every bite was packed with rich, savory flavors, perfectly balanced between the umami of the soy sauce, the subtle smokiness from the wok, and the freshness of the finely chopped vegetables. The rice itself had the ideal texture—not too soft, not too dry—each grain separate and infused with flavor. The generous portion of protein, whether it was tender chicken, succulent shrimp, or perfectly seasoned beef, added a hearty touch that made the dish even more satisfying. The seasoning was spot on, with just the right amount of garlic, onion, and a hint of spice that lingered pleasantly without overpowering the dish. And let’s not forget the little extras—the fluffy scrambled egg mixed throughout added richness, and the green onions provided a fresh contrast. It was the kind of fried rice that you could eat on its own without needing any extra sauce or sides, which is a testament to how well it was cooked. To top it all off, the price was almost too good to be true for the quality and portion size. It felt like a gourmet meal at a bargain, leaving me completely satisfied and already craving...
Read moreWaited 45 mins for cold food, that made us feel nauseous. The fried rice was cooked half way, the peas in it were hard as rocks, honey chicken was cold, wings were soggy(after asking for really crispy ones). Cashier has zero customer service, and doesn't look at you when you talk to her, let alone even answer you half the time. I called to tell them about their poor quality food that we waited 45 damn mins for. She told me to drive back up there to get something different....right...
I asked for a refund, she said I would have to drive back up there, and give them their rancid food back for a refund. I just got off a long day of work, waited 45 mins for some of the worst Chinese food i've ever had, and you want me to waste more of my time to deliver this crap back to you? Told her no thanks, I will just contact my credit card company to have them charge back this horrible excuse for Chinese food(which they did np).
I don't know if the other reviews are shills, or wok on by was actually good at one point years ago. I am truly amazed they're still...
