Hi everyone. It makes me SO SAD to have to post this, since this is a business I have been going to for 8+ years, but if you have celiac, DO NOT GO TO EMACK & BOLIOS IN ALBANY. (I have celiac and a wheat allergy).
I went on Friday and ordered a scoop of the bananas foster and a scoop of the VEGAN salted caramel in a dish with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. The worker even confirmed with me that I wanted the bananas foster since it wasnât vegan, but I told her I didnât need the ice cream to be vegan, just gluten free. Since it had the toppings, I couldnât see the ice cream, and sat down and started eating. Half way through, when I got to the bottom scoop, I realized something didnât look right. It looked like there wet cookie in my ice cream. I brought it up to the counter, and people ran around avoiding me for a little bit, as they realized they had given me the wrong thing and called the owner to find out what to do. When they finally confirmed that she DID give me the wrong thing, she told me that she gave me the salted caramel brownie, not the VEGAN salted caramel. I then explained that you need to be more careful especially working in a position where youâre serving items with common allergies, and all she asked if I wanted to do is if I wanted them to call emergency services, which I explained is not how gluten works. They then wasted another 15 minutes of my time that I could be going to get my medications trying to figure out how to refund me. The most they could do is give me a refund.
I rushed to CVS to get gavescon and Benadryl, and thankfully it saved me from getting a rash, but 2 days later and I am still feeling it. My stomach is in so much pain still, and any time I engage those muscles it feels like Iâm...
Read moreWe called to find out if they had vegan options, and two were available. We arrived about 20 minutes later, and they were already out of one option we wanted. We don't usually like chocolate, but we tried it, and it was tasty. I got two scoops (I should have got one) on a cone, and they were huge portions which was delightful. We also got one with lemon sorbet in a cup. The chocolate was great at first but became way too rich. The sorbet saved the one in the cup by offsetting the rich flavor of the chocolate. I couldn't finish my scoops. If you like chocolate, it's good, though I would only get one mixed with another flavor next time. I did like that it was coconut based which is suitable for more people, particularly those with but allergies. Afterward, it was nice to sit outside and listen to some live tunes going on there.
I wish they had more vegan options when we arrived, perhaps next time. It's great that they do offer this, though! They have a variety of specialty cones, but none of them are vegan-friendly. However, they do have a few regular types, which are. The inside of the shop also has a bunch of novelty and gift items which gives off an...
Read moreCool little place when you look at it in the surface. Came with my wife. She cannot eat dairy and asked staff what choices of ice cream they have they said choc pudding and sorbet which I actually pointed out. Asked about candy choices in the case they said they have no idea what is non dairy.
Ordered 2 double espressos a vanilla sundae for me and the no dairy choc pudding for my wife. And bottle of water 17.53 Plus tip for the 30 sec of work they did. Staff was cordial at best not friendly.
Girl brings over are espressos and Iâm standing in front of a jar of Mexican beans with dark choc. I asked to try one before I order a bag of them. This is after I paid and just gave her a tip. She said no samples. I then said no problem I guess no sale either. She said nothing and we sat in there make shift yard at an uneven table and ate our sundaes which were actually good. The espressos on the other hand were terrible. Tastes like they need to clean the machine or something.
Overall disappointed. I was expecting more from a cute little place. In this age nothing is what it seems....
