I finally was able to make the ride out to this place last week Saturday on the motorcycle. Starting out, beautiful ride from Lockport to Batavia, if anyone wants a nice ride to add to their list. When I got there, around 4pm or so, it wasn't too packed. Few tables taken and a couple bar stools. People playing pool in the other room. Lighting was perfect and the music selection for that time of day was great. Now that the atmosphere part is out of the way, let me get to the magic. The drink list, more specifically the bourbon selection. It was phenomenal! I love my scotch and bourbon, and this place had Blanton's available, which is one of my favorites. Blanton's has been sold out in many areas for a while now, so it personally made me happy. Bartender was equal parts professional, funny and knowledgeable on mixology. Me being prior service and a veteran, finding out he was a Marine was an added bonus. The burger I had, which was the Korean "Seoul" burger was out of this world! I wish you could have had the chance to grab one because describing the mix of toppings and Kimchi on a burger doesn't do it justice. (It is still available for another day!) Onion rings are great, especially paired with their "boom boom" sauce (the good spicy), and same with the fried pickles. Food menu is kind of basic, but the food is of excellent quality, so kudos to the chef(s). I mainly went for the namesake, the bourbon and burgers. I highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon. Great ride from anywhere on a motorcycle. You can park on the street or you can park in the parking lot across from the restaurant. Definitely add this place to your agendas people. You won't be...
Read moreWe pulled up in front of a rustic looking tavern. I thought, oh by the looks of this, it’s going to be good. We were seated quickly, and the serve came to take our order quickly. We ordered apps first, the chicken wing dip and nacho filled tots. The wing dip looked suspicious when it came out. Bright orange cheese that appeared oddly familiar. Just as I thought, it was jared queso from tops, with canned chicken and tons of hot sauce. The easiest thing to make and they chose to take the bootleg easy route. The nacho filled tots weren’t as exciting as they sound, I think similar to Burger King. This wasn’t good. I said, you know what, let’s hope since they have “burgers in their name, this is just a fluke. We ordered the Omaha Steakhouse and the Gilled Cheese burger. Again, grilled cheese isn’t hard, or expensive. At least give me that cheese pull…. There was NONE! No cheese pull and zero seasoning. They threw that burger on the flat top and called it day. Funny thing is, when we were waiting for our order, we thought…. Where’s the smell of burgers? The steakhouse burger was completely carried by that mediocre sauce and the over cooked onion ring. Again, ZERO seasoning on that burger. This was a below par meal and frankly, I’m even wondering if there are just no other burger options in Batavia because how are the reviews this strong? I will say the server was great! Get the salt and pepper out, make a little more effort and you might...
Read moreA outstanding place in the city of Batavia to have a burger. Many, many choices (there was at least over 20 choices). They even offer an all plant based burger! Veggie burger also. Not wanting a burger? They have wraps! They have chicken! They have fish! They will even have a crab cake served on a bun! Sides choices include mac salad, soup, chili, side salad and my favorite sweet potato fries. All burgers come with a good size serving of fries and good size pickle. My wife had the BOTM (burger of the month) which in celebration of the new coffee place opening next door this weekend, The Coffee Press, had the burger named after that. It had a coffee cinnamon spice with cheese and bacon with BBQ sauce on it. My daughter had the Omaha burger with came with onion rings on it. The waitress will ask you if the burger you want is to be cooked pink or no pink. So know what you want! None of that medium well stuff! Fully stocked bar - of course bourbon is served! (I'm not much a drinker and don't know my liquor so...) Our host and waitress were very nice and it was quite busy for a Friday night. The staff was working hard to make everything and everyone good and happy. They also have a dart game and a pool table. Overall, there is something for everybody. Specials offered for different nights of the week. Kids meals, adult meals, sports on TVs, good decor and good...
