Tonight my boyfriend and I decided to stop in for some "Pig Wings" which are on the menu. We have never had them, and have only researched. We arrived, and to our surprise the place had only only about 10 or so tables. Fortunately we were able to sit at one. It was very small and wobbly, but we made the best of it. The waiter came over promptly. He was very sweet. We ordered the chicken half combo with coleslaw, and fries, and also the Pig Wing combo with tots, and mac salad. Corn bread came with both dishes. We ordered the Pig Wings with sauce, and we were informed that the only chicken left were 2 quarters. Which was fine. The food came fairly quickly. We received two very small breasts with the attached wing for our 2 quarters. Soo small that they looked like they came from a Cornish hen. The chicken was flavorless and very dry. I had to rip it apart and sauce it. The house sauces were tasty but very thin. The tots had great flavor and were crisp, as were the French fries. The coleslaw and mac salad severely lacked flavor. Incredibly bland. The corn bread side....was basically 2 quarter sized muffins! For the "Wings" honestly I don't know what to say really...they are NOT Wings. What we recieved as "Wings" were 5 dry rubbed ribs. I asked about wether or not these were the Wings and the waiter told me yes, and that Wings were essentially just ribs but fried. ... Soo, for those of you who are going for the "Pig Wings" I want to inform you that they do NOT have them. I have included photos below to describe what actual "Pig Wings" are and look like. Overall, we ended up eating only half of our food, spent $70, and left...

This was the best bbq I've had since I moved here from Texas. I've tried other bbq joints in the area and was deeply underwhelmed. But a friend recommended Nickel's and today we finally gave it a try. I'm glad we did.

This small, unassuming establishment is a hidden gem. We had pulled pork, brisket, and a good assortment of sides, and every single thing we tried was outstanding.

I ordered the brisket lean (as opposed to wet) and the waitress said "It's all cooked the same", which made me hesitant. What arrived was as lean as I could ask for, and I appreciate that she passed the message and the kitchen delivered exactly what I hoped for!

The house sauces are good. Not outstanding, but very tasty and well balanced.

Every side we tried was superb. The mac salad was delicious, the jalapeno mac was creamy and flavorful, the corn and black bean salad was perfectly seasoned and wonderful. We were worried about the cornbread. It looked kinda dry? But no, it was absolutely perfect! Even the fries had us thinking "These are the best fries I've had anywhere in town."

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with wood paneling, a nice bar, and fun decorations. The drink selection looked good, but we didn't partake today.

My only complaint is that the prices are high. Two of their cheaper plates, one extra side, and two soft drinks, tax, and tip was over $60. For bbq for two, I'd expect to pay closer to half of that, but I'd also expect mediocre sides and marginally satisfying fare. What we were served was absolutely worth the money we paid.

So go with the expectation that you'll pay a lot, but it will be worth...

We hired Nickels Pit BBQ to cater our wedding in Corning this past weekend. The moment I reached out to them, less than a month before the wedding, I knew we’d book them simply based on their responsiveness and willingness to accommodate our 2 party covid plan. My husband and I went out there to taste their food and were blown away over how amazing it was! My husband doesn’t love pork but decided to try it anyways. After tasting it, he decided he no longer wanted burgers and wanted pulled pork. I’m so glad we changed our minds because, WOW, what a hit!! We also had chicken quarters and those were equally amazing! We had two completely separate meals 3.5 hours apart and Nickels didn’t skip a beat! All of our guests raved about the food and everything was cooked to perfection. They even hand served the food to the family! It was awesome to watch them cook over the flames too! They even provided a ton of take home containers which was so thoughtful. We ended up having a lot of guests not show up which meant there was a ton of extra food. We were able to send guests home with full meals and we were lucky enough to take a bunch home too! How sweet it is to not have to cook and be able to relax and enjoy my new marriage 😋 I 150% will be visiting Nickels again and highly, HIGHLY, suggest you use their catering services!! The food was amazing, value was outstanding, and the service was...

🔥A Meat Lover’s Dream! 🔥 Tucked in the heart of downtown, Nickel’s Pit BBQ sets the bar high for authentic, smoky goodness. The warm, rustic ambiance with glowing string lights instantly draws you in, setting the stage for a proper BBQ feast. I went all in with their Pitmaster Combo, and let me tell you—it’s a carnivore’s paradise! This tray was stacked with: 🥩 Brisket – Perfectly smoked with a gorgeous pink smoke ring and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The bark had a deep, savory crust that locked in all that juicy flavor. 🍖 Ribs – Fall-off-the-bone tender with just the right balance of smoky and sweet glaze. 🐔 Smoked Wings – Juicy, sticky, and packed with bold flavors. Paired beautifully with the creamy dipping sauce. 🐷 Pulled Pork – Moist, well-seasoned, and delicious with or without sauce. 🥬 Collard Greens – A great contrast to all the richness, adding a slight bitterness and fresh bite. 🍝 Macaroni Salad – Creamy, tangy, and a perfect BBQ sidekick. 🥒 Pickled Onions & Cucumbers – The acidity cut through the heaviness, adding a refreshing crunch. Nickel’s Pit BBQ delivers on all fronts—flavor, portion sizes, and quality. Whether you’re a brisket fanatic or a ribs enthusiast, this spot is a must-visit for serious BBQ lovers! 📍 Have you been here before? What’s your go-to BBQ order? Let’s talk smoke and sauce in the comments! 🔥🍖

We were really excited for the combos that they offer, but when we sat down we realized the menu was different than what we saw online. So when we asked they told us that Sunday has a brunch menu. But the food we ordered was still so good, with both the classic and breakfast sandwiches, the brisket and pork was the best, being so savory and sweet and delicious. Their mac salad was also my favorite, and I highly recommend their everything bbq rub wings, it’s honestly some of the best wings I’ve ever had. But the Parmesan garlic wings had little flavor. It’s definitely worth a try and the service was amazing. I believe they make their own sauces and their house bbq sauce was amazing with the pork sandwich. They have a variety of sauces from regular bbq sauce to a Carolina sauce. We came in without realizing that they close at 2, but they let us stay and didn’t look troubled at all as they cleaned up and we tried to finish as soon as we could. Update - 7/3/23 We went back the day after and it was packed. There was a 30 minute but that was because there’s 6 of us. But when we ordered out food is was pretty good except the brisket was much more salty than last time. But it still wasn’t bad, just beware that it can get very salty.
