Please follow us on Facebook at SNDTravels. Stopped downtown Corning NY for lunch. Nice downtown area. I love to find local deli/bakery type places for lunch and this was a good find. I had soup and sandwich with turkey on ciabatta bread and house made seafood chowder. The only negative comes here, no fresh brewed ice tea. Deli's have to have that available but I got hot tea instead. The sandwich was regular thin sliced deli meat of good amount and the bread was fresh and soft. Nothing unique but fresh and enjoyable. Upon ordering the chowder the young lady behind the counter mentioned she always has to get the bowl because it's so good. I took her suggestion and was glad I did. Probably the best seafood chowder I have ever had. Haddock, shrimp and ocean scallops in a well seasoned herb chowder with just the right thickness. The scallops we're plentiful and whole and not your typical little bay scallops most use. Not a single piece of seafood was in the least bit tough. Every piece was melt in your mouth. I've almost turned around to go get more just writing this. I don't know if this is a constant menu item but I will be looking forward to...

I wanted to check this place out cause i’m new to the area, so i took my mom and my sister out for lunch. my mom and i both got the greek salad, which was a bland salad with minimal toppings for like 13 dollars. i asked for mine without onions and tomatoes due to dietary restrictions, and when i got my salad with both onions and tomatoes i brought it back. when i got up to the counter i was met with an accusatory attitude and she was actually convinced that i didn’t order it like that until they found the original ticket (which proved me right). when i got the salad back i got the same exact one with the onions and tomatoes picked off. in my opinion this is very reckless as people with allergies could be in actual danger if this is how they conduct their business. not only that but a woman that i think is the owner (maybe wrong) was loudly complaining about customers which is, again, extremely unprofessional. you can’t serve mediocre food and be a jerk and expect people...

Love this place! The aesthetic of the place, the menu, the music, the candies for sale, it all feels right out of the past. There are two counters: you can order ice cream from the first counter near the main entrance, and sandwiches and salads and baked goods from the cafe counter in the back. The ice cream is mostly Hershey's but they currently have one housemade gelato and one sorbetto that rotates. The ice cream counter also has novelty candy and ice cream for sale, but if you go in back to the cafe counter, they have higher quality locally produced and imported candies along with other pantry stuff like jam and tea. I've stopped here a few times. The sandwiches have been fantastic (globe sandwich and Moroccan wrap). The carrot cake was just okay, a little dry if I remember correctly, but the coconut custard pie I tried this time was perfect and not too sweet or heavy. They also do a good (and pretty big) malt milkshake. Service is fast enough and...

Overpriced, and deceiving. Not what I had hoped for. Window signage says homemade soup, but I'd say it was more just heated inside. I had the Stracciarelli Soup, a bowl. Thin noodles in a chicken broth (Liptons?) with a touch of scrambled egg mixed in, and parmesan sprinkled on top. Not at all worth the$7.95 price tag. Was also just a touch warmer than room temp. Woman described it like egg-drop soup with noodles. Not even close! The panini's were huge. Cut into 3 large, equal-size pieces (the photo is the center piece that I could not finish). But, they were just ok. Had the young lady said how large they were (or had I read reviews beforehand), my wife and I would have shared one. I would skip the Old World Cafe.
