Cute cozy nerdtastic and full of friendly staff who grabbed my drink fix and craving, even esoteric as it was, at the time of my last visit and to my delight was fostered with nee friends and am event based around that very type of spirit. So three cheers for Modern Alchemy, you did what we all wish we had, combined adult and kinda not so adult but still stuff adults do a lot things like play....
and you rolled a Nat 20 backed up by an 18.
So why so long before a review or attendance? Well now, combining fancy drinks, Alchemy and occult practice, and gaming for me is... well "choir-conversion" or as I prefer these days:
"The alchemist divining to the apothecary. "
To be clear I am a fan boy one hundred million billion gazillion percent of all that stuff and more than you so yeah...
But I stopped going to bars entirely for some time and that's all I'll say about that.
But truly, Huzzah darklings and dorklings and dear good landlords!! I bid thee summon me a chair that I might have a fine repast and reconjure my morale and spirits to return to adventuring in these unholiest of times. Transmutation be damned, they took GOLD not LEAD and turned it into PLATINUM. A far sight trickier and more to the tune of Disambiguation.... ?
So fill your pockets with every type of fictional or historical and mostly real world currency and go visit Modern Alchemy., Whatever you are expecting is not where...
Read moreI was trying to find a sober-friendly social environment and stumbled on Modern Alchemy during my search. My expectations were exceeded at every level. The owner, staff, and clientel were all warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful, guiding me to their discord, and telling me about new events with writing groups, video game tournaments, sci fi groups, and casual Magic days. (There was more, but these were what caught my interest). I said that I hadn't played (Magic) since the 90's, and one of the folks hanging out offered to go grab a starter deck and play a few hands! I didn't try their food, but what I saw come out of the kitchen smelled and looked great. The mocktails I tried were outstanding, refreshing, yet complex, and made for sipping over time. The mint lemonade was an instant favorite. They had a great selection of games, and the owner encouraged me to bring any of my favorites to try, and potentially add to the library. The decor was warm, and quirky, and cool. Look out for the Rancor! In this crazy world, I think we need more places like this, bringing people together. I will be making Modern Alchemy my weekly escape from the agony of the mundane. It's the most refreshing social environment I've experienced in a very long time. Alcoholic refreshments were available, and I may have to try virgin versions of some that caught my eye. Check this place...
Read moreWe had an extremely rude waiter/bartender that specifically targeted one of my friends last night. After over an hour and a half wait for her food, she simply asked how much longer it would be and the waiter was completely rude to her and made her feel awful, meanwhile everyone else received their food in a prompt fashion. When she asked if she could get fries due to the long wait, the waiter again snapped at her with a very rude attitude and said no because there was only one cook. She decided to cancel her order and we all left. As we were leaving we saw the cook was not even doing anything and kept staring at us. Overall, it was terrible service. I’m all about supporting small businesses but I can’t in good conscience support this place when they treat their customers like my friend was treated. We didn’t get the bartender’s name but he had long brown hair in a pony tail, was...
