Milkstand Restaurant offers a delightful twist on modern American comfort food, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and bold flavors. Tucked away in a cozy spot in Ithaca, this casual yet stylish eatery brings a fun and relaxed vibe to the dining scene. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, Milkstand makes you feel right at home.

The menu is inventive and full of surprises, with a variety of unique dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes. One of the highlights is their milkshake menu—yes, it’s a restaurant, but the shakes here are a standout! Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, they’re the perfect treat to complement any meal. The classic vanilla milkshake is always a favorite, but if you’re feeling adventurous, their salted caramel and chocolate chip shake is a must-try.

The food options are equally impressive. The fried chicken sandwich is crispy and juicy, served with a tangy aioli that adds the perfect finishing touch. For a lighter option, the avocado toast is fresh and satisfying, topped with a zesty lemon dressing that brightens up every bite. There’s also a selection of delicious salads, with ingredients that are always fresh and well-seasoned.

The ambiance at Milkstand is warm and inviting, with cozy seating that makes it feel like a homey getaway in the middle of the city. The staff is friendly and efficient, and they genuinely care about making your experience memorable. Whether you’re there for a quick lunch, a hangout with friends, or a relaxed dinner, the atmosphere is always upbeat and enjoyable.

If you're in Ithaca and craving comfort food with a twist, Milkstand Restaurant is a fantastic choice. With its great food, milkshakes, and laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect place to indulge in something...

An underwhelming experience. I was excited to try them, and the menu looks really good but falls really flat. The service was decent- we where there at 11am on a Saturday and there where full so some delays where expected but our server was pretty solid. There's a lot of interesting options and we had a hard time settling on what to order. I'd be interested in trying them again and seeing if some of the egg and waffle entrees are good, but what we got was really not worth the money. My partner and I got the jalapeno poppers, fried mushrooms, Milkstand breakfast set, and the brie french brioche. Both the appetizers where really good, the dill ranch was delicious and the breading was awesome and crispy and flavorful. However both of the entrees where disappointing verging on actively not good. The brie french brioche had almost no brie on it- 2 thin slices sandwiched between 4 slices of French toast. The menu said it would be smothered in berry sauce and there was a tiny garnish smear of the sauce across the plate. The French toast itself was ok- a little bland but otherwise fine. It just wasn't at all what was described on the menu, and not in my opinion worth $15. The worst offender though was the steak on the Milkstand breakfast set. It was not a steak at all but some kind meatloaf. There was more breading then steak and again, very bland. The gravy had a ton of lumps and almost no flavor. It was just flour, butter, milk, and siracha. The eggs where cooked perfectly over east and the hash browns were pretty good. The sourdough toast was stale, and the vegetable medley was undercooked and again, underseasoned. Extremely disappointing for an $18...

This was a just about 3 hour lunch. First, food is excellent excellent! My friend ordered a salad with her quiche, which amounted to a good amount of only Arugula. I had delicious crepe florentine. Indeed wonderful food. The wait was about 30 minutes at the door, you must check in with reception who writes names down in order of arrival. I did notice other people who came after us with same number of people be seated first. So speak up! There will be a positive response! Waiting to be served is about 15 min at the table (remember it’s lunch and even on a Monday it’s packed) after ordering it’s about another 20 min to half hour until meal arrives, but it’s hot and excellent, yes! Upscale value! We decided to try their desert! Well, another 25 minutes later small cheese cake and lemon crepe with ice cream. Very well done topping off a delicious meal. Got an extra scoop of rather good vanilla ice cream on the plate for the wait. So, the wait: the waitress apologized for the wait and a bit of confusion, they brought main meal without silverware ( actually goldwear) and with all the wait I got up and helped myself to what we needed at the table. We did ask several times courteously if we were forgotten. So, the waitress at the end did apologize and said that they had 2 call outs in the kitchen hence the wait. Again, food is excellent, thank God the cook showed up today! This is a very busy place overtaken by Students that flock in in droves and thank God for names taken as students help themselves budging the line! Sad for Ithacans. I do hope we get more diners in Ithaca! They...

Overall this place is great, but there's honestly room for improvement. The food was pretty damn good breakfast fare- I mean, where else in town are you getting Brie stuffed French toast? (You're not.) That said, the prices are nothing to scoff at. I know everything costs more these days, but it does feel like a premium for the locale. Only had breakfast items, but the flavors were good, elevated from a typical "diner". The atmosphere is interesting. Somehow modern and retro chic. Pretty cool and unique. Feels fresh. Not a typical diner ambience, in a good way. A major reason we'll be returning is the wait staff. Our server Quinn was exceptional! She was pleasant and attentive. She needs a gold star. Honestly the best table service I've had in Ithaca. ...on that note- whoever hired the "manager" could use a lesson in restaurant management. Seriously. His attitude is beyond unacceptable. To the point of making us uncomfortable enough to get up and leave., but I didn't want that to come back badly on our amazing server. Think I'm overreacting? Just look at the many other reviews saying the same thing. That guy is the wrong person for the job. To the owner- handle that promptly before you lose the valuable staff holding the place up.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile now but every time I’ve driven by it’s packed. The parking lot had two spots open so we stopped in for breakfast after errands. The hostess was quick to seat us, giving us an option in our preference of seating. The decor is trendy and instagram backdrop worthy. It was nice to see the old coolers repurposed into the layout. It was a nice way to reveal the previous life of being Byrne Dairy. The menu was easy to navigate. Our waitress brought us over ice cold waters immediately after we were seated. These guys are very efficient and all work so well together. We asked what the waitress recommendations were and she said immediately the chicken and waffles. The coffee was a perfect temperature, we also ordered mimosas that were delicious. The chicken and waffle dish was definitely a good choice. The best I’ve ever had. The only thing Preventing the fifth star is that the pepper shaker only had one hole so it took forever to season the plate and they don’t offer what surrounding brunch venues do, a two for one or bottomless mimosas or Bloody Marys. Great place- will definitely be back and spread the word about the jalapeño chicken and waffles!

Edit: IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN ITHACA. A MUST TRY. !!! Long story short..RUN to Milkstand! Amazing food. Amazing vibes. Amazing staff. Period. Long story: I tried the mozzarella sticks, burger, margherita flatbread pizza, steak frites, and chicken waffles. Each dish was clearly made with love and fresh ingredients. (Details to warm up the syrup for the waffles ?! Amazing.) The mozzarella cheese was gooey with a 10/10 cheese pull with my steak cooked to perfection! And their fries are so different I’ve never seen it anywhere. All the food was hot and to die for. I highly recommend going for dinner! Do I even have to talk about their perfect interior? A trendy spot to take a few (hundred) pictures with your friends under their neon light to brighten up your Insta feed. Ithaca needs a new trendy spot and I LOVE that they did a twist on a modern, upscale diner. A diner can be predictable and it’s exciting to see Milkstand upgrade a traditional environment into a modern, clean restaurant. Will be there time and time again! My new fav spot.
