The bartender was extremely rude and would not serve my friend because she claimed that an out of state license doesn’t count. For context, Pennsylvania IDs do not expire until a few years after someone’s 21st birthday. Therefore all Pennsylvania IDs specify the date that you are no longer under 21. Her 21st birthday was in June 2025, we were there July 12th 2025. We showed her that the ID has not expired and is completely valid and she got extremely heated. She also would say rudely, “well we’re not in Pennsylvania”. She yelled at us that she is following the law and it doesn’t matter. It’s not the state law. Our group included other over 21 out of state IDs that were served, so again clearly this is not the state law. We remained calm while she repeatedly yelled at us with her accusation that in NY this is not a valid ID because it specifies the age she turns 21. Other customers at the bar were clearly turned off by the experience. Another customer at the bar asked us what had happened (because you really couldn’t ignore the situation), we explained and they were just as confused as us. This bartender started going to her coworkers behind the bar saying she was going to “lose it”. It completely ruined our time there and put a sour taste in our mouth for this bar. Clearly the staff is not trained on how to properly check an ID or handle a situation where there may be confusion. It was clear she was not going to serve us when we proved her wrong so we gave up. To be clear, she did not think the ID was fake. She just felt so knowledgeable that she would not listen to correct information, or check outside resources. I can’t even express the anger she had it was truly terrifying. It wasn’t even an argument just an unnecessary escalation due to her own ego. This was also at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon, I cannot imagine how she handles any situation when the night gets late and patrons have been drinking. It’s not a bad establishment by any means just one employee that ruined our experience. If she had calmly expressed her concern about the law we would have informed her, asked for a second opinion, or had a quick conversion where I am 100 percent sure she could have corrected her mistake. I hope this review lends itself to a more informed staff to reduce the amount of hostility when simply checking an ID for a legal customer. I still stand by the fact that even if this were the law she was extremely and unnecessarily rude because that’s how she started...
Read moreI recently had dinner at Cabana Mexican Restaurant with a friend, and while I left with some great memories, there were a few disappointments.
First impressions are everything, and unfortunately, the welcome we received from the hostesses was quite lackluster. I could say maybe our skin color/race, but I would not bring race into this (I’m Latina, and my friend was black). They seemed indifferent and lacked the warmth one would expect when entering a restaurant. To make matters worse, we were seated at a poorly cleaned table, which was quite off-putting.
However, the experience did take a turn for the better. Once we settled in, we ordered the margaritas, and I have to say, they were delicious! Perfectly balanced with just the right sweetness and a refreshing kick, they truly stood out and made the evening feel a bit brighter.
Our server was another highlight of the night. They were attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout our meal. It was clear that they genuinely cared about our experience, which helped to make up for the rocky start at the entrance.
Overall, while Cabana Mexican Restaurant has some delightful offerings, like their margaritas and attentive service, the initial impression from the hostesses and the state of our table left much to be desired. I hope they can improve on these aspects because the food and drinks have...
Read moreHorrible experience!! Had mild food Postion and threw up heavy when returned home, about 10 times. Went to long beach this past Saturday with friends and stumbled there after the beach, group of 5 couples and a baby girl. My friends wife had been there before and she suggested it. I had the quesadilla with shrimp (horrible) , Cajun chicken tacos (sickening) and tried the white sangria with apples which we had to return. The sangria was overly sweet and made you nauseous if you drank more than a sip. My friends brother in law ordered the mussels which he returned , they were unattable. Also, had to return the lemonade that my wife ordered. It was not lemonade, the waitress said they had to change the tap. Trust me, I'm not one to complain about food. I was not expecting a Zagat rated place but was not expecting to get sick either. I have a yahoo email and had to search for my lost Gmail password to write this review. Plus I never spend time writing reviews, good or bad. That speaks volume of how bad my experience was.The only thing that everyone enjoyed were the chips with guacamole. I would say, visit at...
