Have you taken a look at these reviews and wonder why the ratings are all over the place? Well, here’s my experience. When the food is good, it’s good when it’s bad, it’s really bad.
This has been my go to pizzeria since I moved to Middletown in 2011. For the first few years, I would’ve given it a five star rating. The pizza was always so good, the staff was very friendly and it was an overall great place to go. Over the last five years however, it’s been either hit or miss. Sometimes, I order a slice and it’s the best slice of pizza I’ve ever had and at other times, I’ve received greasy, burnt pizza with the cheese sliding right off and an inconsistent dough. Either that or they serve you a slice that has obviously been sitting around for a long time. The calzones don’t get fully cooked on the inside and it’s just a nasty doughy mess. And when I order a beef patty with cheese, which is my favorite food item, I have to hope and pray that they don’t burn the bottom which is usually 7 out of 10 times.
I just started experimenting with their entrees and the lasagna is kind of bland but it’ll do if you’re really hungry. I must say it is a very large portion though. My husband seems to love the chicken parm hero on garlic bread but says the pasta dishes leave much to be desired. My husband doesn’t eat pork and in one particular pasta dish that we ordered, it had bacon even though it wasn’t mentioned as part of the ingredients on the menu. I can’t remember which dish it was exactly at this moment but I knew for a fact that that dish is almost never made with bacon unless requested.
Other dishes have had the same hit or miss experience but as far as the pizza, I don’t know if there’s two different people who prepare it or what, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why sometimes the pizza is so good and at other times it is so horrible. I only continue to go there, hoping that it will be a good day for them because of the convenient to home location.
In my opinion, for a better tasting pizza with consistent quality and flavor, you should definitely try Brother Bruno’s.
On another note, why are merchants, including Bada Bing, passing on the credit card charges to the consumers. They were the ones that contracted with the credit card companies so they could receive a service and they were the ones that agreed to the charges so why are they being passed on to us. Not very fair. If we were the ones intended to pay the additional fees, then wouldn’t the credit card companies charge us directly? Just food for thought.
TLDR: In summary this place is a hit or miss hopefully you get a hit. When it’s good, it’s good, but when it’s bad, it’s really bad. Good luck. If you require nothing but excellence in your pizza and a nice friendly environment, try Brother...
Read moreUpdate: 4/7/23 I normally would not leave a bad review for one bad order but the bad order was accompanied with a bad attitude. We ordered an extra large pepperoni because we had our hungry grands. What a disappointment! It was so greasy that it literally poured off the pizza. The crust was burnt, not as much cheese as they usually give and it was tasteless! Theirs is normally the best pizza in Middletown. I called expecting an apology and them offering to make it right. Instead they were annoyed and discourteous and told me I would have to wait because they were busy. At the time I only wanted a replacement to feed my grands. I told him that one grand are a slice and he made a big deal of it so I told him to take it from the new one. However, after thinking it over I decided to return it for a refund. Turns out I ordered it from Slice so they needed to refund the money, which they did. I actually could have saved myself a trip and kept the nasty pizza but it was so disgusting we wouldn’t have eaten it anyway. Now I’m afraid to order from them again. Guess I’ll be looking for a new spot. All they had to do was be courteous. Oh well.
WOWZA!!!!! The pizza here is amazing! HOT, DELICIOUS and extremely GENEROUS with the toppings, especially the cheese! Hubby and...
Read moreNever again!! Can not believe the experience we just had... Ordered a large pie half green peppers and large antipasto salad. Delivery took over an hour, pizza was cold and the antipasto salad was delivered to another house! The pizza was definitely not fresh, it was a pre made pizza that they just threw some peppers and extra cheese on and reheated it. We called about not receiving the salad and they said they’d send the driver back with a new one. When the driver came back, he tried giving us the salad he had just delivered, from the wrong house!!! Are you serious??? With the Coronavirus going around and you’re going to bring me a salad you delivered to the wrong house, not a fresh one?!?!!!! Of course there was no manager around to talk to about this. Was refunded for the salad, but after that experience, we should’ve been refunded for the entire order after that stunt!!! Completely uncalled for and unprofessional, to say the least!! I’m sure the Health Dept would love to hear...
