(Updated below) This place has the freshest donuts and an array of flavors that can't be beat! Whether you prefer a traditional donut (think Boston Cream or jelly) or something a bit more creative (Coco Puffs, anyone?), Daddy's Donuts is the business!
I ventured in to view the selection just before noon and found trays filled with a variety of treats. More than just donuts, the other bakery offerings looked tempting, but I was there for the real deal. I opted for the Fruity Pebbles donut (gooey and chewy with, sweet little fruities) and the Maple Bacon donut (same deliciously doughy texture as the Fruity Pebbles donut, but with maple frosting and sweet bacon hunks on top). I savored each bite and left satisfied, but not overly-indulged.
The only drop of a star came from the service, and it's a minor peeve. One employee was clearly very cheerful and welcoming, both greeting me when I walked in and wishing me well when I left; however, she was not who served me. The second employee seemed less-than-thrilled to be earning a paycheck and was not rude, but did not provide the same niceties as her co-worker. She was all business: taking the order, filling the order, accepting payment, DONE. While efficient if the place is packed (it was not busy, as just one other patron was finishing her treat), or effective if Seinfeld is looking for a skit on how to order food (soup...), this was unnecessary and a bit of a bummer to someone excited to find his new donut sanctuary.
If the service had been on point, 5 stars EASILY for this great little shop!
UPDATE 8/3/16: Having returned to try more variety, the service was fine this time around. I had my mind made up on what to bring home when out came a fresh donut tray of peanut butter brownie bites on Fluff and chocolate frosting. Since they were warm, I had to try them and altered my order to also include a Lucky Charms donut, an Oreo crumble donut, a Twix donut, and a Nutella and Nutter brownie. Pictures don't do them justice, but the resulting image is clear: Daddy's makes a great glazed donut with creative toppings, and their...
Read morePLEASE READ UNTIL THE END I went in to this bakery for the first time for 3 dozen donuts. I asked one dozen be a “theme” for a baby shower. I sent my mom to pick them up before coming and she brought them so we can put them on a display for my friends HUGE baby shower. The owner wanted the donuts fresh so they were still warm and basically…. The themed ones were pretty terrible. They had melted and became a mess. Her baby shower planner couldn’t display them. I called daddy’s and explained. I couldn’t leave the party was about to start but I couldn’t keep these donuts! The others were fine but not filled like I like I wanted them (wanted an assortment and I wasn’t clear that I wanted filled and regular that was on me). The man at this bakery without hesitation drove all the way to Warwick immediately with a huge fresh batch and DECORATED AND ICED THEM AT THE BABY SHOWER in under 10 minutes. They looked and tasted amazing and then brought a ton of filled ones with him as well. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make things right. I’ve never experienced service like that. Everyone there was so blown away they all tasted and looked out of this world. I’m so grateful to this bakery. Please use them for all your party/donut needs because they’re not just the most amazing donuts I’ve ever tasted or the most creative.. they’re made by people who truly care about their customers and are willing to do whatever it takes to make them happy. Daddy’s bakery you are truly one of a kind and awesome people! Thank...
Read moreJust got home with our breakfast from Daddy's. Coffee roll - ok. Sandwich with bacon and egg on a hard roll - forget it. They seem unable to make this correctly. It was not very busy, but this is the second time (in a row) they have made this sandwich incorrectly. Either the person taking the order got it wrong or the person cooking it got it wrong or they gave me someone else's sandwich. First time it was bacon, egg and cheese, though I specifically stated "No Cheese." The sandwich I got today was egg and cheese (and too much of it), though I specifically stated "No Cheese."
May return for donuts or other pastries - but not the ones out in the open where anyone can touch or sneeze all over them - but it's doubtful. The counter folks are fine, though the counter setup seems to foster chaos. Small area for people to give orders, pick up orders and pay. They are always squeezing past each other in back of the counter - needs more room. Maybe I shouldn't expect a good (correct) sandwich from a donut shop, but don't sell it if you can't...
