one of the more satisfying meals i’ve had recently which says a lot! for me, it’s become harder for me to spend my money on going out to eat as i feel like the dining experience overall everywhere has gone down tremendously. this place reminder how nice it is to go to a restaurant with friendly staff that’s also knowledgeable, food that is cooked with care and thought, along with somehow creating a sense of community just simply by sitting down. we got the karaage, the No. 47 and the Illuminator - the karaage was cooked perfectly crisp while remaining juicy on the inside whereas both ramens were delicious in their own retrospects. the no. 47 had juicy chasu pork and a rich umami broth where as the illuminator carried perfect balance of nutty, sweet, and spicy in a thick creamy broth.

the only thing else to note is as it was their first week opening i’m sure they’re still working out some quirks so also some suggestions if they’re not already working on implementing these things i wish someone were to announce that we were able to sit wherever we’d like because it was a bit confusing at first there is a corner of the restaurant that seems to hold people as they’re waiting so maybe a couch would be good there for people to wait coat hangers on the bar would be a nice touch as we had to hold our coats in our lap

which these are silly things to point out but i believe would make the experience a lot more enjoyable but also keep in mind took very little away as well

other things to keep in mind for those visiting as i don’t think this would necessarily be a place to bring a larger group unless you’re going on a slower day such as a tuesday and it did not seem extremely wheelchair accessible so another thing to note for those who would be concerned

overall - the experience was really lovely and i highly recommend to anyone...

I was served a room temp ramen soup - that’s it.

Edit: to respond to your question - I understand we could have brought it up and sent it back but to be honest no one who is going out to enjoy dinner with friends wants to do that. Respectfully, you specialize in ONE thing, ramen. You and your staff should be trained and prepared to serve the best possible ramen you can produce. Room temp broth is a simple oversight and can be easily avoided with attention to details. I hope this helps.

Edit #2: I think you are confusing us for another group but whatever helps you feel better about my review is fine with me. Your continued efforts to blame the customer and inability to take constructive criticism will eventually catch up to you. I’ll be back again since I live in the neighborhood and make sure to dig right in as soon as it hits my table - I hope there’s improvement and we can adjust this rating :)

Edit 3: Thank you for all your prompt responses, owner. This review is my personal opinion. If my friends were on their phones it has nothing to do with me - I make sure to keep it fair and honest. You continue to blame us for allowing the food to get cold. This was not the case with me - I can’t speak for others.

Regardless, I’m in support of small businesses like yours and I feel the same way about your “borderline righteous” responses. Maybe we have a lot more in common than we think!

In hindsight, I agree that my initial review seems too direct and could have been bit more eloquent. I still stand on my point of view - hot ramen soup is better and I do not want to send things back when I go out for meals...

I had the (unintentional) good fortune of visiting District Ramen for their soft opening on Valentine's Day after what seemed like years of driving by with just a promise of opening soon. We arrived at 7pm, a little timid with our lack of reservations and the group of people still waiting to be seated as we entered. The crowd made this cozy space feel like we had discovered Newburgh's best kept secret; and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Our party of two was seated quite quickly, and staff did a great job of checking in frequently- especially with how busy they were. The food was exceptional; my wife had the Illuminator and I had the No. 47. I couldn't chose a favorite, though fair warning the Illuminator was delightfully spicy- not a dish for those mild to medium wing eaters but perfect for those that prefer some heat. We additionally ordered the Shishito peppers and Gyoza, the latter of which was overlooked by the busy staff, though we did receive a third appitizer on the house- an offering of Takoyaki- a much welcomed culinary experience! I haven't had Ramen like this in the Hudson Valley in years and I cannot wait to see a more polished version of this place in the months to come. Note: given the limited size of the space, I would not recommend large parties (6+) as there could be a significant wait period. Additionally, a phone number was not listed on Goolge or their website at the time of writing which may make guaranteeing seating in this (already) popular restaurant quite tricky in the...
