I’ll preface this by saying we’ve been going to The Wherehouse since they opened 10ish years ago. After tonight, I can say our time going to The Wherehouse has come to an end. The service and quality of food has declined significantly over the last year or so.
First, my husband ordered a Corona Light (on tap) & I ordered a Mill House Cream Ale, also on tap... Both out. He decided on a Corona bottle instead & I got a Mill House Cucumber beer.. Entrees came out.. I ordered the falafel burger & immediately noticed I hadn’t received the tzatziki it should’ve come with, no big deal, I asked for it.. His cheese steak was slathered in liquid nacho cheese and steamed onions (not caramelized, as the menu said). I received my tzatziki shortly after which was disappointingly and obviously cream cheese based, versus the traditional yogurt-based. No biggie, except I really didn’t want veggie cream cheese on my falafel burger.
My husband got halfway through his cheese steak when there was suddenly a rancid smell, strong enough for me to notice from across the table. I watched the look on his face change and he spit out his last bite and said the last bite of meat was rotten. He is C.I.A. alumni.. The guy knows rotten steak when it’s in front of him. He immediately walked it over to our waiter across the bar. From there, I watched our waiter (short guy) walk it over to another waiter/bartender (heavier Hispanic/maybe islander - Miguel, I believe?). The shorter guy came over to us and said he would take my husband’s meal off the bill.
A few minutes later Miguel hands us the bill and says “I took 10% off.” Assuming he meant my husband’s meal AND 10% we handed him our credit card. After he charged my card I looked at the receipt and he ONLY took $5 off. $5 off a $16 meal that contained rotten steak.
Two words - absolutely disgraceful.
We will never be back. And for the record when I mentioned the disappointing tzatziki after closing out the bill Miguel said it comes...
Read moreCrappy service and creepy men hanging around the bar. Looked really cool on the outside, we had a group of 5 people and it was still before 11pm. Went in, the kitchen was closing (no biggie) but what astonished me was for 3 shots and 4 drinks we waited almost 45 minutes to not just receive the drinks but to order them too...whatever.. but while waiting the eternity for our drinks, a very intoxicated man who was seated at the end of the bar had made a very inappropriate conment, once more no biggie, my male friends had chased him out, but within an hour he was out front hanging with the kitchen staff smoking and drinking more, he then came back in and went into the back area... thats when we realized the creep worked there.. never have i experienced a staff member act so horribly. Save your money, this place is not worth it. Youre better off paying the toll to Beacon to drink at one of the bars there, way too much trouble for only being there less then 2 hours and only having 1 drink. Its a real shame too that not a single person working the bar that heard the interaction between the (presumably) off duty staff member and me had a thing to say, no apology, nothing. Just a chuckle. Next time im in the neighborhood, ill more than likely stop by to see if that creep is working, it was really pathetic that a man of his age was that badly intoxicated, even worse that it was his...
Read moreThe bad This place is always out of something. Once or twice is ok but its every time you walk through the door. Service is inconsistent at best. Some of the bar tenders and servers are really ok and others think it's social hour taking away with regulars or other employees while customers are in need of drinks, food or the check. I have been there when the bar tender has walk outside to smoke leaving people with empty glasses on more than one occasion. Customers don't want to see you smoking then handling our food and drinks. Do it where we can't see you and have somebody watch the bar while your gone. (Show a little respect for the industry) They also use the cheapest ingredients and try to imply it's the best of the best. None of it is local or fresh but there prices tell a different story. The owner/mangers need to pull it together or this place will be out of business or forced to sell.
The good Good selection of beers... That's it.
Yet I still find myself meeting a friend or two for drinks here every now and then. Everytime hoping they got their $hi+ together and everytime I leave disappointed. This place has so much potential if the owner just tried. In closing if your able to look past all the bad and still have a good time while spending a lot of your hard earned money then this is the place for you. Enjoy this FAKE hipsters paradise. The owner probably...
