Hummingbird Jerk Center — Restaurant in City of Newburgh

Stopped in Monday evening to get some food after work. I ordered a large jerk chicken only. The guy working behind the counter (not owner) gave me 2 leg quarters as I watched him and counted the pieces which is a medium. He told me he put 3 leg quarters but I watched him and he only gave me 2 but he lied in my face and argued he gave me 3. The owner was there but was talking with a store patron so I didn't want to bother him over a piece of chicken. The guy charged me for a medium assuming he knew I was right but that's not what I ordered. I ordered a large not a medium and this isn't the first time or second time he's done this to me. Whenever the owner serves me he gives me what I pay for or any one else working there besides this particular guy. Whenever I order a large he gives me a medium and try to charge me for a large until I say something then he'll charge me for the medium. This is bad business. I spend my hard earned money here, give me what I'm paying for and he's not the friendliest when it comes to customer service. The owner super cool, always polite and doesn't cheat me out of my money or food but he's not always there or always the one...

My husband and I stopped in for takeout Friday evening. Unfortunately, we were too late to scoop up some of their Friday BBQ Chicken special. But we walked away with an awesome mix of Jerk Chicken and Pork, Oxtails, Rice and Beans, Rasta Pasta, and their cabbage. Yep, it was a huge amount of food but I wanted to try everything after stepping out of my car and smelling the awesome smell of smoked meat. Everything was beyond delicious and the lovely woman who served our food was top notch. You couldn't ask for better quality food or service. I've been in the area for at least 10 years and coming from the Bronx,NY I missed authentic Jamaican food. Well not any more, the food here is great the atmosphere is not chic but it reminds me of Jamaica. I ventured out and had the jerk chicken with white rice and vegetables. Well enough of the small talk, go there get real Jamaican food and your plate will look like this.
