Summary,
If you are looking for a good option to eat in the North Tonawanda area, and you need a variety of options to please your group, all for an affordable price, check out Beijing buffet. It isn't the hippest spot in town with fancy interior design, and designer furniture to sit on, or michelin star food, but it is a spot were everyone can find something decent to eat for around $20 a person.
TL;DR Version: Food fine, but nothing special, gets the job done, Service, everyone was friendly and attentive, the friendly lady attending to us elevated the experience a ton. She was awesome and made us feel super welcomed and made it fun. Atmosphere, is acceptable, typical strip mall Chinese buffet, nothing to write home about.
Long Version: Food, The food was decent overall, plenty of variety, and a good price compared to other buffets I've been to. Overall the food wasn't bad, just nothing special to be honest. Enough options were tasty enough that you should be able to find something you like. I won't get too specific as alot of food things at a buffet come down to preference. But my favorite chinese food staples were fine. General tsaos chicken was good, sesame chicken, and hone chicken were good. We sampled plenty of seafood options. They were pretty good too. Dessert options were also good and decent amount of choices. Any critique I'd give, is maybe the dessert selection could be bolstered up a bit. maybe a few more dessert choices.
I went at dinner time, less than an hour before they close, so I don't really blame them, but I notice food trays weren't replenished. If I was there earlier I'm sure they would have been, so I can't fairly judge freshness but I mention it because certain Items like noodles and sauced items may have tasted better if they had just come out. I will have to try again at lunch time to better judge. My favorites were the chicken on a stick, The vegetables, and the coffee cake for dessert.
Service, I think the service was good. We had no wait at all to get a table. We were sat right away. We got there kind of late. Food wasn't being replenished but as I mentioned it was getting toward the end of their night so I'm sure if I was there earlier it would have been replenished often. The service was really good. The lady attending the tables was really friendly and made the experience really good. The price was reasonable for the amount of options. Seafood, dessert, all you can eat, good price for all of that. As far as the sign about not wasting food or being charged, being there with a picky kid, that didn't finish everything, it was never even brought up. I think that is specifically for certain problem customers they must have had. I could tell when we were there, this place may not attract the classiest crowd per se, not being judgmental but I was getting that impression. Overall though the customer service was really good, that alone makes it worth me revisiting if I'm in this part of town again and need a buffet option.
Atmosphere, The atmosphere isn't the best, It is typical for just a place in a small strip mall, but nothing special. It looks a little tired to be honest. Things are a bit worn looking, and the building and sign out front look old. That stuff really isn't important, however what is important to me is cleanliness and functionality. The area were the buffet was located was clean and tidy, the restrooms were reasonably clean at the time I went. Nothing in the restaurant was off putting at all so I was fine with it.
All in all, it could use some modernizing inside and out, and some new furniture. Maybe a fresh coat of paint. But for what it is it's good enough, but room for...
Read moreI visited for the first time last week, and wasn't going to review it. But after seeing some other reviews I decided to.
The food is good, I have to say that. The chicken and mushrooms and chicken on a stick is great and they have lots of good shrimp and a nice soup and salad bar. Probably one of the last salad bars around even if it's not that much variety.
The main waitress who I think is an owner is nice, and the younger waitress was also very welcoming.
However the young man they have as a host entirely ruins the vibe of the place. When we walked in he saw us and walked over looking angry at having to work and said "how many?" In a upset tone. We said yeah four thanks and asked how was the food we're first timers. Well he ignored that and started walking away.... we weren't sure if we should follow but we did and he eventually stopped walking near a table and we sat down. He then said "drinks?" In another monotone angry voice and we placed our orders for two pops and waters. As we were telling him our drink orders he was already walking away... every time we said thank you he ignored us, when we asked a question about food he ignored us, when the end came and we paid he ignored us entirely and didn't say a word as we cashed out. Even as we said how much we loved the food and tried to interact asking him about the place or family we were just like...ignored as though we weren't there. It was very off-putting. If we cone back it will be for takeout only, as he pretty much makes you go from happy to like almost depressed because he seems to hate working there and hates the customers. It was very strange lol I'm not sure how to...
Read moreUp until today, we were regular customers. They messed up our order Wednesday night, but I didn’t call back because my family was busy doing other things. I called back today to place another order and to tell them about Wednesday. The young male (deep voice) was surprisingly rude to me. Pretty much said that I should’ve called back Wednesday and that he couldn’t do anything about it now. I was still going to order but he continued to be snarky with me. I didn’t appreciate that and thought it was poor customer service. To not fix a mistake because I didn’t call that same day is not acceptable. He ended up hanging up on me. I called back, it was busy. Called again, fax machine. Called again, and spoke to the mother, I believe. I told her what had happened with the young male that I spoke to and summed it up with advising her she’s losing a customer. We ordered once a week from there, if not more. The food is good, but from the way he spoke to me, I cannot go back there. It’s truly a shame. I’m upset. They should correct their mistake and you shouldn’t have to call back that same day. It literally was 2...
