Pizza Villa — Restaurant in City of Oswego

We have tried most pizza joints in Oswego- and none of them quite hit the mark. Cold upon arrival- raw onion tossed on the pizza prior to arrival (oops we meant to cook it) or just crappy pizza!

So we decided to try Pizza Villa and we are pretty happy with the pizza. It is on the thicker side which presents a small issue that I will address- but the flavor was great, toppings abundant and the baked wings were delicious.

Heading home from Liverpool we called and placed a pickup order. Meat pizza with onions and an order of plain wings- crispy.

Staff that answered the phone were great and informative and after a “give us about 30 min” I hung up the phone and headed their way.

Arrived to lots of smiles and happy staff making pizzas and wings and told them we had not had great experiences with other places in Oswego- and they said “well we hope you love ours”

Got home and dug in. The pizza and sauce (just the right amount) is delicious. I had asked for it to be well done as we generally prefer thin crust, theirs is pretty thick, and they obliged. The wings were really great and fell off the bone. The only criticism I have is that due to the thickness of the crust, it wasn’t cooked through and was doughy. They seem to cook the pizza in a pan in the oven and it doesn’t have direct contact with the oven (that is what I saw) so perhaps the pan is keeping the crust from cooking through? Not sure- but it was the only draw back. It wasn’t horribly undercooked just enough that it was noticeable.

I love there food! So delicious!! However last time I did a pick up order there I didn’t leave a tip for multiple reasons. First off I paid all my bills that day and had a little extra to treat my family a takeout. Second for me if I don’t deliver and pick up myself and it’s take out I usually don’t tip (no judgment just saying if I pick up takeout I usually don’t tip to each their own). So when I was walking out after paying. I heard the lady who took my receipt say loud enough “oh look another one who doesn’t tip”! These people I swear”! I had to wait over an hour to pick up my order (not a huge deal I have worked in places like Pizza Villa and I understand when it gets busy people have to wait for their food). Then I go to pick up because delivery would of been well over an hour that night which again my decision in order to feed my 2 year old before 8 that night. For someone to get all bent that I didn’t leave a tip (from her comment I wasn’t the only walk in customer who didn’t tip that night). Some people don’t realize tips aren’t for sure and to get an attitude at your customers for not tipping is usually bad for business. Other than that comment the food is great!! The calzones are awesome and at the best price for the amount of food in town! I also like there are 3 different sizes to choose from! I Love the fact they don’t use that nasty cheese in their calzones! If you are ordering pizza from there and aren’t a cheese fan you may want to tell them to go light on the cheese they tend to do a ton of cheese on...

TL/DR: place has its quirks needs to fry the wings dont get the calzones until they revamp them and order before your hungry due to a small kitchen causing back ups most nights. So over all its a pretty alright establishment but due to the size of their place they get backed up fairly quickly, The pizza is alright they definatly dont skimp out on the toppings especially cheese. dont bother with the calzones as they are just a flipped over soggy pizza, if they can figure out how to cause less water to be in there and to actually ad ricotto theyd be great. Only other complaint would be the lack of a fryer for wings if they could deep fry their wings theyd have my business every time i wanted pizza or subs or wings. final little thing is the phone issues, i dont know what it is but everytime i call i have to call 4+ times just to get through or the phone acts like its not connected. Just make sure to to call atleast an hour before your feeling hungry for pizza because as stated before they get backed up and will end up having delivery times well over an hour...
