El Azteca made our wedding reception fantastic and memorable. If you want amazing food, great service and a personal touch, you MUST go to El Azteca. I originally found them based on Yelp reviews, and decided on them sight unseen (or food untasted rather) to cater my large wedding which took place at the Pavilion at the Mid Hudson Children’s Museum. Once I met Clara, one of the owners, in person, I was absolutely taken back by her warmth and kindness. And the FOOD! My Lord! I have never had better Mexican food...or any type of food as a matter of fact! We had 137 guests out of an original 170, but after trying the food, we kept our order for 170 beauce the food was so good we knew there would be lots of people who wanted seconds, and we were able to take home trays of deliciousness.

Her communication was great and she is the sweetest person! We knew that our guests would be blown away, and they were. We had so so many people rave about the appetizers and meal, which made us so happy since we had people coming in to town from as far away as Canada, Florida, the West Coast and Costa Rica! I was very proud to feed them such wonderful fare, and it was especially nice for some of our guests who’d never eaten Mexican food before - what a great introduction to a fantastic cuisine! They also added in special touches, like offering some really tasty caramel-esque lollipops, which my bridesmaids went crazy for. The service was fantastic as well - they were so professional, and the delivery and presentation was out of this world!! I can’t say enough good things about El Azteca - their catering is truly out of...

When I asked a local about spots to check out, and mentioned I was looking here.. the gentleman said without hesitation, “lock it in!”

I’m glad I listened, and you should too!

The food was delicious, and came out quickly with large servings. The guacamole was super fresh, and my tacos were very tasty. I am already looking forward to going back + has an outdoor area to enjoy during nice weather.

But the real reason for my review (I don’t write them often), is that I left a couple of belongings behind and the staff could not have been nicer/ helpful in getting it back to me. Some of the items were needed quickly on my side, and they got it sent out (priority express mail) to me asap!

I really can’t thank them enough, and as I said, the food and service - both the lady who took my order, and the one who served us - were so nice.. and this was before them going above and beyond to...

I ordered different food items from here and the food quality was very poor. After reading the reviews, I thought this place would have good food but it didn't. Especially for the price, my expectations were high but the food was way too greasy to consume. I spent $60 for greasy cheese quesadilla, chile rellenos, and cheese enchiladas. The fried ice cream is not fried ice cream but coconut pieces in currdled ice cream. Being from Arizona, I wouldn't classify this as authentic Mexican food but instead way overpriced greasiness of slop no one asked for. I'm highly disappointed about everything I bought here. My family and I couldn't even muster finishing the mess we received as we threw it away. Maybe hire a cook that knows what he or she are doing so serving a bunch of greasy food doesn't happen again? Smh for the disgusting, greasy slop my family...

I really love Azteca! Gem in the heart of Poughkeepsie. I’m surprised it isn’t busier because I love the bright decor and the outside patio. It seems busier for takeout but we’ve enjoyed both. The food is delcious, well seasoned and always fresh tasting ingredients. Portion size is just right for entrees. That being said, the guacamole is super superrrr small for $13 so I’d skip that app. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options which I appreciate! Fresh juices and horchata are sooo much yum and a must try. We’ve also gotten to enjoy the churros, plantains and tres leches- all very delicious. It does feel like a family vibe in there, and we always feel well taken care of. The prices are on the higher side in my opinion but we keep going back bevause the quality is there! 100% worth a stop!

This Mexican cafe was delightful. The decor had a South California feel and is bright and festive. We went for a Sunday lunch. They offer specialty waters in many flavors, served in Mason jar mugs...we got mango and watermelon... outstanding! For app, we had both the queso and guacamole. Both were freshly made and very good. Entrees were tacos, with rice and beans and I had the empanada entree. Good portions, great sides and garnishment and very flavorful. The staff was attendant but not over bearing. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back as soon as possible.

Mexican and having lived in California most of my life, I'm very skeptical of 'Mexican' food in New York State. It usually turns out to be some strange variant. Not at El Azteca. I ordered tamales con mole de pollo and they were delicious. Nothing fancy. Just tamales that reminded me of my mother's cooking. Freshly made. Authentic. Three fantastic tasting tamales with soft drink for less than $10 coupled with excellent service makes El Azteca a fantastic find for a great meal.
