Cool little waterfront park with a nice view of both the mid hudson bridge as well as the walkway over the hudson. There are a few quiet/shaded areas both at the north end near the walkway as well as the south end.
The playground is decent for kids (the south end of the park) albeit occasionally littered. The one in the middle portion should be torn down/removed.
The skatepark is also a nice element, although it would be cool if the city would make a little more budget room to keep it updated or expand a bit.
It would be nice if the city would cleanup/make use of the building facilities there - they seem to be mostly dormant.
Overall a nice element next to downtown Poughkeepsie - but a little underutilized and a little less well kept than it should be.
*Occasionally individuals have expressed to me that their impressions are that the park is unsafe - to date, my family has generally always...
Read moreThe former restaurant that was named the river station. Well the parking lot there for that restaurant which has been closed for a little while now has turned into a place where people smoke marijuana inside their cars and do sexual acts inside the cars and this is because the restaurant has not been sold and there is no police presence at this park by the river and there's a lot of crazy activity that goes down over there. Back in the early 2000s cops used to patrol that area. Dems have not let the police so their work and it shows in the horrible state the city of Poughkeepsie is after like three decades. Disgusting. The new Mayor needs to address these issues and also the horrible condition of the streets in the city of Poughkeepsie. I should send my car repair bills straight to the mayor herself so she can...
Read moreThe Victor C. Waryas Park is a gem to Poughkeepsie. This is one of the first parks I visited when I came to Poughkeepsie. Unlike other places in the area, this locations is beautiful to visit in the morning, noon, or at night. In the morning you can go on a stroll and enjoy the sunrise 🌅. In the afternoon, you could have a cookout with some family and friends by one of the benches/tables. At night, you could go on a romantic walk or a walk to reminiscence the day. Just be careful if you decide to walk at night as it could be a bit lonely.
This park is beautiful mainly because of the view of the Hudson River and mountains that line Ulster County. You see people on jet skis and boats, people fishing, and families having...
