Dear Reader, Hello. It’s ME! The ONLY vehicle that obeys the “SPEED LIMIT”. It’s ALWAYS unnerving. I usually put my hazard lights on, stay in the right lane, and sometimes have to pull over and wait for the conglomeration of carbon-based lawbreakers of selfishness to go past. 😬 Once in a while, a couple of mature drivers that know what I’m doing, stay behind me, while everyone rushes past, making sure they cross the yellow line and almost hit me as they pass. My wife is in the hospital. It’s super emotionally charged and sad to visit my wife in such a condition, and then hope I don’t get shot on the way home going over the bridge. It provides an unpleasant experience of existence in general. When there’s a State Trooper car parked in view, mostly every vehicle drives 25mph. It’s been over a year since I made a phone call to the bridge Authority. The call was productive. The next day, I saw signs referring to “saving lives and obeying the speed limit”. Over one year later, everybody is still speeding and make it clear that they are angry when they pass me. Why don’t you make the speed limit 5 mph? Then they’ll do 25. It’s the same everywhere you drive, except for places that are heavily enforced; Brooklyn and New York City, etc. So I will be calling you after I post this. Not the reader, the bridge authority L O L. I am writing this out of concern for human lives. I do the speed limit for the same reason. But I feel like somebody’s gonna run into me because I’m trying to do the right thing. I would like to plan a scheduled escort with a security truck for 4pm...
Read moreArchaic infrastructure that's quite discriminatory against bicycle commuters, leaving those stuck and abandoned after the sunset in their commute. After speaking with the bridge authority they suggested that I "buy a taxi" to get across or be harassed by the police. While I use my bike to get around and see my family when I visit here, I realize that New York has no concern for those choosing healthier and cleaner modes of transportation! Whatever concerns they publicly state about how to eliminate and reduce fossil fuel consumption, and produce cleaner energy, are undermined by their willingness to discriminate against those taking personal steps to do such. #bikediscrimination #NYBikelife #discrimination #getwiththetimes #NY #badplacestolive #midhudsonbridge #governorcuomo #ifyoucaredaboutsuicide #therewouldbementalhealthcareforthoseinneed #buildasuicidecage #notsorry #rants #hudsonvalley #bike...
Read moreThe Mid Hudson Bridge is a beautiful suspension bridge. It has nice views. But to be fair, the views from the Walkway over the Hudson near by are better. From the walkway, you get to see the Mid Hudson bridge if you look south. But the Mid Hudson bridge does have beautiful views. The bridge itself is actually a little too small for the capacity it moves. As such they alternate a center lane of three to help the flow of traffic on a bridge only designed for two lanes. There is also work almost always being done to maintain the bridge. But it is what it is. At times they light up the bridge. Recently it has has alternating colors that make the bridge come alive at night. So it also has nice views in day or night looking at...
