La Deliziosa — Restaurant in City of Poughkeepsie

Cannoli chips. I should just end the review there. La Deliziosa had the brilliant idea not just to make cannoli, but to make bite-sized pieces of cannoli shells which you can then dip in cannoli cream. It definitely avoids the sogginess problem which plagues good cannoli (studies show that 6/10 cannoli suffering from sogginess) while also turning up the dial on the fat ass meter. I gave a bag of these chips to my brother, and half of the huge bag was gone within 5-10 minutes. I think my Mom forgot she was diabetic and ate the other half. My family goes hard with this stuff. I was there on a Saturday, and I was surprised that the place was deserted; a nice young Italian girl helped me. In addition to the chips, I opted for a sfogliatelle as well. Theirs was up there in terms of the quality of the ricotta filling, which was on the sweeter side and redolent of orange. The shell was good but not as crisp and buttery as I'd like; they had made it in the morning and I grabbed it later in the afternoon. Still I'm thinking about those chips (including the giant one on their counter that you aren't supposed to eat). Maybe I'll finally give in to my family's demands to come back here...

The best Italian pastries and cookies I've had in DECADES!

I'm from Brooklyn N.Y. and even the decor of the place brought me back to my childhood in the 50's

I bought a rum pastry that was phenomenal.

The place was super clean.

I mean SPOTLESS!

The staff was very friendly and the young clerk was so sweet.

She gave me quick and easy directions to the 'Walkway Over the Hudson'.

That's where I ate my rum pastry.

SOOO GOOD...!!!

It was a fantastic experience and my 1st visit to Poughkeepsie.

After my hike over the Walkway I returned to this shop and bought a boxful of cookies to take home on Metro North back to Brooklyn.

I'm a 70 year old hiker and my only regret was not buying 2 or 3 more boxes of cookies.

I plan on returning to Poughkeepsie and do the whole hiking experience and definitely visit this shop again.

I can't say what was better about my experience.

The cleanliness, the very friendly staff, the pastries, or th prices.

I spent so much less than what I expected.

The prices were right!

I had an amazing day and this place was th BEST!

I am here in Fishkill all the way from Las Vegas on a Sunday afternoon wanting La Deliziosa so bad yet I only have 2 hrs to get there. Lol Anyways when we were living in Poughkeepsie I would order all my birthday cakes from them, the most moist delicious cakes ever. I'd order two different fillings one side strawberry and the other side pineapple, the best. On Sundays we would go buy the cookies, eclairs, and cannolas I have yet to find a better cannoli. My next trip if I can't catch them tomorrow before I leave I will be grabbing some before heading back to Richmond Va. I have my grand daughter here on vacation meeting her relatives for the 1st time and I would love for her to try a few goodies. Thank you so much La Deliziosa for having the BEST desserts I've...
