A coworker recommended this local place, which inspired a couple of us in the office to give it a try for lunch. We ordered a crispy fried chicken + kimchi & popcorn chicken, both over rice. We also ordered a honeydew boba. The good: Both chicken dishes were fresh, crispy and tasty, even if the rice seemed like perhaps it had been made overnight and warmed up. Soy garlic sauce and thousand island dressing were both light and delicious. I would say that these dishes were decent value for money. The bad: The shredded salad that came with the meal was not consistently chopped, and my coworker found chunks of lettuce ends in hers. I paid a dollar extra for the kimchi, but was disappointed to find that they had made it with green cabbage instead of napa. It was hard and tasted more like a chutney/sauerkraut than traditional kimchi. I ended up throwing it out. This isn't the same kimchi that they are selling in the glass jars in their fridge, or at least I hope not! The worst: As someone has previously mentioned, I am now also in agreement that the boba "tea" was made from a powder or poured directly out of a pre-packaged can. The boba was hard, clumpy and completely inedible, and the tea itself had a very strange, floral aroma inconsistent to green tea, OR honeydew. For $7, it was an absolute rip-off and we had to throw it out. I called the restaurant to politely advise them of our experience, and was met with indifference - which was what ultimately prompted this review. I am all for supporting local business, perhaps today just wasn't their day 🤷♂️ **Update - The owner has reached out and we have been in communication. Thank you for your proactiveness, it is much...
Read moreI absolutely love their bulgogi it is so flavorful, their chicken is always perfectly panko crispy and I love how it's a thin cut. They have the BEST kimchi! I love their drunken eggs and marinated avocado&tomato mix. I love how they are always making daily specials that are always creative and tasty!!! Their corn dog is surprisingly awesome and totally unique to what you would expect of a corn dog. What’s great is that their food is CONSISTENTLY great! It’s always up to the same standard of quality and flavor, they never have an off-day. I love how they have a big assortment of korean drinks and yummy stuff in their fridge, and lots of korean snacks in store. DOWNSIDES, their Kimbap has excellent texture, but I wish they provided a dipping sauce to help with the flavor as it's really plain, doesn't have much meat to carry the flavor, and the seaweed puts an off-putting smell on your palate every time you're about to take a bite (not that their seaweed is bad, that’s just the nature of seaweed in general). The corn that comes in the Grand SOE Rice Bowl as a side has a great cook/texture but desperately needs some seasoning or flavor of some sort, like at least put some salt on it for goodness sake. Their Iced K Coffee is great coffee but NOT sweet and creamy at all like the menu describes. They have merchandise, too! Really cute and cool designs on shirts, hats, bags, etc! I also can’t wait to try out some of the drinks at their bar, they look really...
Read moreWe Have been here many times before and NEVER again will we be back. We came in this afternoon and upon walking in the cashier is walking up to the bar stuffing her face with food. We ignored it said it was slow and she was just munching, now we’re standing at the counter placing our order and there young cook is as well stuffing his face with food. Which number one is a complete health code violation. We have him the benefit of the doubt and hoped he was going to wash his hands before starting to touch anything or even put on gloves. But NOPE nothing neither. We stood at the counter and watched him cook our food. He is chewing gum and with one hand he stretches the dam gum from his mouth and back in & the best part is after he does that he holds up our plate with rice on it and drags his dirty finger around the edge of the plate to show how nice the rice looks to his coworker cashier Named Olha. Once he does that I completely freak out and point out everything they just did and how it’s completely disgusting and asked for a refund. The cook hears me and spits out the gum and now grabs a pair of gloves and puts them on. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever seen/ been through, not only as a customer but as a general manager in the food industry. I’d like very much for the owner to reach out and make this right. Including with the workers, didn’t catch the name of the cook but here’s a photo incase you ever devise to go in and he’s cooking...
