Phenomenal! This was my first time trying Burmese food, and it set the bar so high!!! Everything was so delicious! I got the lunch special, which comes with a small salad and soup - both were surprisingly delicious! For appetizers, my party and I ordered the fried tofu and tea leaf salad. The tofu was home made, and it showed! So flavorful and soft :D The tea leaf salad was amazing! So delightfully crunchy with the peanuts and sesame seeds and cabbage, so very flavorful with the tea leaves and garlic oil. I loved it and want to try all of their salads! For a main, I shared the tofu curry and egg plant curry, and both were amazing! The tomato curry sauce was so delicious. I also got the Burmese tea - it had milk and a splendid spice profile that was just so comforting!! Lastly, we had the tapioca pearl and coconut milk dessert, also lovely! I wish I was more eloquent with describing flavors, but trust me, you need to try this place!! Every dish we received and tried, we were blown away by the depth of flavor!! This place is unassuming looking on the outside, but don't let its subtlety and quiet appearance deceive you. This place is bursting with flavor and authenticity. It's a family run business. I want to go back here as soon as possible to try more of their menu!

This place is a total diamond in the rough. When my family of 4 arrived for dinner, we were treated like we were part of the family. The food was amazing! And priced right! We fed our family of 4 for under $50!! Each dish was a perfectly spiced culinary adventure. My 1 year old daughter adored the pickled cucumbers and onions they served on the side so much that she drank the juice at the bottom of the bowl. We've never had Burmese food before, so we ordered a couple of things and ate family style. We started off with the Shan noodle salad. It was unexpectedly warm and delicious. The pickled mustard greens were a great tangy counterpoint to the noodles. Next, we had the Burmese fried noodles with beef. It was topped with fried egg, and it was everything a fried rice dish should be. My favorite dish of the night was the teriyaki salmon. The fish was grilled to perfection, and the vegetables were an absolute highlight. No sad frozen veggies here! We finished off with a complimentary fruity dessert and fried ice cream.

I have eaten Burmese food in Mill Valley, San Francisco, and the LA area, and was always sad that we didn't have any in the Albany area. I also couldn't understand why those restaurants Americanized Burmese food, for example, by adding greens to a tea leaf salad. Therefore, I was doubly happy that we both have a Burmese restaurant now, and that it's authentic. I also managed to snap up a few photos, because the food looked so good, that we kept just dividing in. The fish soup (mohinga) and tea leaf salad are my staples at any Burmese restaurant I go to, and I loved them here. I also tried the tofu curry, vermicelli, fish curry, coconut soup, and some sort of a fried dumpling, and loved everything. It has the ambiance of a small, school, cafeteria, and the service was definitely of someone first starting out, but both were pleasant. I can't wait to come back!

WOW! Come with an empty belly and be prepared to eat! Shwe’s lunch special was a visual and flavorful experience! We started our meal with the home made tofu dipped in a chickpea batter fried lightly to perfection appetizer. It was served with a delicious sweet, spicy and sour red dipping sauce. Mouth melting, if I could eat three orders plus the other food we ordered, I so would have!

We ordered the veggie Burmese fried rice and the chicken potato curry lunch special! The rice was soft, delicate, flavorful and packed with bite size veggie pieces of carrots, chickpeas, onions, egg, and broccoli!

The chicken potato curry had lovely notes of paprika, tamarind, onion, soft potato, tender chicken and overall felt like I was eating a home cooked meal prepared with love and passion.

The ambiance is perfect, it was quiet, humble, and the owners were very attentive to our needs. They brought us authentic red tea, a light shredded cabbage/carrot soup and tangy salad while we waited for our food to be made from scratch!

If you are looking to eat somewhere off the beaten path away from Albany, or you are getting off the train from NYC in Rensselaer… Go here, chill out, relax, and eat a meal fit for royalty and eat the fried banana spring roll if you have room for desert!

Highly recommend the lunch specials! Looking forward to...

This was my first time trying Burmese food and I'm happy this was my first experience. The restaurant has a few small tables inside and service is done by the sweetest waitress. First, make sure you get the iced tea (Burmese style). This place is known for their tea leaf salad and it did not disappoint. It had a light dressing, the perfect amount of crunch and it was a good portion. Also tried the mango salad which was similar to the tea leaf salad but the mango added a touch of sweetness. It was a great balance. The vegan Burmese spring rolls were absolutely delicious. The dipping sauce they came with was an interesting bbqesque sauce that had a great balance of sweet and spicy. There are many options for vegan/vegetarian so if that's your thing you should be able so find something. Speaking of, the Burmese tofu fried noodles were great. Good flavor with a light soy sauce. Also, the pork belly stew (served spicy) was absolutely perfect. To end the meal a nice banana spring roll is a great choice. Loved everything about this place and will...
