Blue Taro — Restaurant in City of Rochester

I ordered for pickup online and received a notification that it would be ready between 8:10-8:20, only order squid appetizer two sandwiches and two bubble teas, ordering on work break with only a half hour, I expected it to be ready by 8:20, since it was ordered at 7:55 and was told itd be ready between 8:10-8:20, and received another notice it was ready. When arrived was told order was for delivery and not ready, confirmed order was for pickup, as stated in app, and notifications received. Had to wait another 20min, and was late getting back to work. I don't understand why it took 45min for a pick up order of 2 cold sandwiches and very small amount of fried squid. The food itself was not special, bubble tea had small amount of bubbles and they were old and hard, bahn mi was ok, squid was small and tough. Definitely not worth a 45min wait for pickup and getting in trouble for being late back to work. For same price taichi bubble tea is bigger more bubbles and better. They did offer free pate on sandwich, which I accepted but if they are having that big of a delay they should call the person who ordered. I still don't feel like a pick up order should take 45min to wait for, especially just for 2...

Just stopped by, and my lady and I are very pleased with our experience. They’ve been open for 2 months since renovations, and I’m not sure how the previous setup looked, but I like the current one. They have three sections: the main dining area, the cafe section where they make boba tea, and a mini store where they sell grocery goods, frozen prepped meals, broth, etc. Not sure if they were struggling with staffing issues, as many restaurants are, but it looks like they hired a robot to help deliver items to tables, which in our opinion, was cute and cool. We preferred to sit down in the cafe area as it had relaxing music and aesthetics, which made the experience better. The food was so delicious.

We ordered spring rolls, a Banh Mi sandwich, and the Spicy Beef Pho soup. Also, we had to try the bubble tea and went for the Thai tea and mango tea. Everything was delicious, packed full of flavors, and we will definitely come back.

Initially I wrote an unfavorable review because I ordered on UberEats and it took almost 2 hours to get here and broth for my noodles was forgotten, and then I read their reply to someone below apologizing for being understaffed. I've worked in restaurants before and I should have been more forgiving, especially in this hard time right now for everyone. We can only try our best, after all.

Well, I put in another order and did emphasize to make sure the broth was included and this time, the order was timely and I got a really nice note from the restaurant apologizing for the prior incident. The food came timely and it was delicious (it was also delicious the first time as well). I hope this serves as a gentle reminder to be more understanding about the hardships that restaurants have faced these past couple of years.
