The first real BBQ I have found in Rochester!

I got the rib and wing combo. I was pleasantly surprised by how AMAZING everything was. You can tell immediately that the ribs are rubbed and smoked, not steamed then grilled, as they have the perfect texture and smoke ring that only comes from smoking. The rub itself is wonderfully flavorful. Even though I asked for my sauce on the side, my ribs were sauced, BUT I was pleasantly surprised by how good the sauce was and how well it complemented the meat. I wouldn’t dare to get them any other way going forward. The wings were meaty and perfectly smoked as well. I hadn’t had good smoked wings since moving up north in 2022.

The sides themselves were worthy of their own rave reviews. My wife and I tried the mac and cheese, cabbage and yams. I’m telling y’all this were the best sides I’ve had in years. The mac and cheese was perfect, not over baked, nor dressed up “shells and cheese,” that seems common in the area, but perfectly executed comfort food. The cabbage was cooked with peppers giving a ton of flavor, and had a wonderful little unexpected kick. The yams were delicious with just the right amount of sweetness without being syrupy.

I am originally from the Atlanta area and my family had a smokehouse, so I can be picky to say the least. Most BBQ places local friends have sent me to have been any combination of: not smoked , over sauced (hiding the quality of the meat), not properly trimmed (resulting in meat that’s to dry or too fatty) or serving obviously frozen “BBQ,” product not made in house. The people are friendly, cool and easy to talk to. Calculate and/or get a receipt because one guy there can't count very well. He said he was giving a discount because they were closing but ultimately he overcharged us. My husband was okay with it,he figured he can keep it as a tip. We never asked for a discount and wouldn't.

Their beef ribs are absolutely delicious!! The sauce is amazing!! Easy five stars. The greens and ma-n-cheese were good, the yams were ok and their wings were not for me. They were very chewy and I'd say nasty if they weren't covered in the sauce. Either the wings were extremely cheap, fake and/or old and reheated. Either way, they should not have been sold but discarded. I wouldn't do the wings again. We've tried them 3x and 2x they failed The last time was the worst, never again.

The family liked everything except the chicken of course. My husband agreed with me, the ribs are on point, with the sauce, and everything else was ok. The kids said the best thing was the Mac n cheese, then the greens, then the yams. Had we not had the chicken they would get 4 stars easily. I decided to stop in & support on Juneteenth since ive been dying to try and was in the neighborhood. Everything was super tasty! I ordered a jerk wing combo and a rib combo. Sides of choice were baked Mac and cheese, collard greens, and cabbage. I chose to keep the sauce on the side so I could taste everything individually. The sauce reminds me of a cross between bbq and boss sauce with a smoky, sweet, and hint of spice flavor. The ribs were truly the star of the show.
