I am a wheelchair user and was already frustrated before I got to the door because I saw a traffic cone blocking the sidewalk cutout, but upon approaching realized that I had plenty of room to get by and the cone was there to warn of the large crack it was covering. Then I saw a sign on the door with no threshold that said to use the next door that had a step. Before I got past the first door, a person who was ended up doing everything except cooking opened the door with no threshold and cleared a path for me. Throughout my visit, he was unbelievably aware and anticipatory of my needs even as the line of customers grew longer. His attentiveness was professional and not overwhelming of my space or autonomy and very much appreciated. The food was delicious. There were several gluten free options to choose from, though the menu is not marked that way and it is up to the patron to ask. The person working that day was very aware of ingredients, but I would be hesitant and/or overwhelmed if someone else were working. He accommodated my request to get a 1/2 order of falafel though it wasn’t on the menu which paired well with the lentil soup. Each entree had subtle flavors of cumin, coriander and other middle eastern spices that did not overwhelm or overpower. I was given take home containers without issue. My wife said that her gyro pita was delicious with all of the right notes of the flavors and...
Read moreI have edited my rating to reflect the overall experience...food, service and atmosphere. Trigger Warning: Anti-Pickle Speech Food: ⭐⭐⭐ I ordered the gyros. I was expecting what I am accustomed to (perhaps incorrectly); a pita filled taco-style with onions, tzatziki sauce and lamb. The gyros served here was a pita literally filled (in the pocket) with all of those ingredients, plus one that was unexpected: pickles. Perhaps pickles in/on a gyros are customary in some areas, but I had never had one like that. For those of you who are pickle fans, maybe you would have loved it, but unfortunately, I am not a pickle fan, so I found it difficult to get past. Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The owner (or staff member) was very pleasant and friendly. I would've enjoyed chatting with him more if he had the time. Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Pita Restaurant is a clean and inviting spot. Hopefully, this gives you a better idea of what to expect. The gyros, while served a bit differently than expected, was also easier and neater to eat, so that was a plus, the only thing that I didn't like was the offending pickle (sorry!!). I would love to go back, when in the area, to try some of their other offerings,...
Read moreThis has some of the best falafel and humus and pita that we have found in the upstate New York area. The food is amazing and the service was so friendly and fast. We will be coming here often. I highly recommend coming and trying some of the best Mediterranean food in Rochester. We went again in July 2025 and the food taste has changed dramatically. The manakeesh was not as wonderful as before. It did not have the flavor or vegetables that it used to have. The falafel pita was inedible. It was dry and did not taste like a falafel. What has happened to this restaurant???? Do you have a new chef? Have you changed owners? Pita is not at all like it was even at the beginning of January of this year. There is something different about this restaurant. We LOVED the old Pita and their food. Please bring back the tastes and...
