Never before in my life have I been so disappointed by Gennaro’s. Ordered four pizzas. Three were gluten free. Or were supposed to be, I have a nasty feeling one of them isn’t, but I won’t know until it’s too late and I’m up all night vomiting my guts out. That one had three of the four toppings ordered, with no cheese and no sauce. What the actual heck. Gluten free pizza number two? The first time they made it, they were out of grilled chicken, so they decided to put breaded chicken on it. Breaded chicken. Which has gluten. Because it’s coated in wheat flour. So they remade it. But it looks a lot like they made the pizza and then just shoved the toppings onto it. The broccoli is raw. The chicken is tepid. The ricotta is cold. I can only assume the third gluten free pizza and the fourth, lactose free pizza are fine, as I haven’t heard differently. But they also gave us a random slice of pizza that nobody can eat, because it’s not lactose free or gluten free. What a waste of food. Maybe next time don’t do that. I used to trust Gennaro’s, but now I’m wary of ordering from there again. Cannot...
Read moreInitial post 3/6/18: Gennaro's arbitrarily decided not to deliver to us recently, after having delivered numerous times before (we were about once a month customers). Furthermore, they refused AFTER taking a complete order and credit card information from me. In speaking with the manager, I was actually to escalate the complaint to the owner, Kathy. She was unreasonable and rude on the phone, having clear disregard for customer satisfaction. Honestly, the pizza (and especially the sides) are too salty anyway. I'd recommend Pizza 7 toward downtown Saratoga or Caputo's toward Wilton. Both are higher quality with better customer service.
Addendum 3/13/18: Owner responded on 3/6/18 to my review (accusingly with multiple exclamation points) that I am out of delivery range because they deliver in a 6 mi radius. This is rather amusing since our property is less than 5 miles from Genaro's. And, again, they delivered multiple times to the address in the year preceding. Thank you for proving my point about your customer service; I would adjust the rating to zero stars if it...
Read moreI’ve always been a huge fan of Gennaro’s since the day it opened. The original management was great. When the new owner came in, the price increased.
In the past, a meatball pie was $17. Today, that same pie is $25. In the past, the meatballs were large disc slices, now they are crumbles, meaning each meatball is roughly 50-80% smaller. Often times, the pizza is cold or undercooked.
The old owner was there every day, while the new owner is almost never seen. The hours on weekends are also absurd. What kind of pizzeria closes at 10 PM on a Friday or Saturday night?
I know four phone numbers by heart: my own, my home phone, my mom’s, and gennaro’s. I ordered a pizza last week over the phone. When I got there to pick it up, the staff had no clue about my order. It was as if I never even called.
The pizza is still usually good. The management is not. The service is okay. I’d love to see the prices go back down, or the pizza quality...
