The Olde Bryan Inn is teeming with history, great flavor, and a homey ambience. The French Onion Soup alone is worth the drive. History: The Olde Bryan Inn is the 1832 reincarnation of the log cabin owned and operated by American scout, spy, and patriot Alexander Bryan. He was a discrete Inn Keeper widely respected by the Americans and British alike. His intel helped turn the tide in the favor of the American Revolutionaries. The vibe at this restaurant is dark and intimate with beautiful artwork. While it is beautiful it isn’t pretentious - plastic seasonal decor hang along expensive red drapes. It feels like dining in a generational middle upper class home. This restaurant would be an ideal place to take family on special occasions. The candlelit dinner amongst the exposed brick and wonderful cocktails make this restaurant a perfect date night excursion as well. What I ordered: -I put a spell on you poisoned apple cocktail $14 -Pumpkin-licious martini $14 -French Onion Soup $8 -Braised short rib poutine $22 -Fish and Chips $22 -Roasted Garlic Pork Chop with a Roasted Garlic Black Pepper Horseradish Demi-glacé $24 -Morgan’s Chocolate Chip Pie $9 Total: $145.91 (including taxes and tip) The apple cocktail was a great balance between apple and vodka. The pumpkin cocktail actually tasted like pumpkin as well. The French onion soup was the star of the show. The cheese pull was long and meandering, the stock tasted as if it was made in house from a beef consommé. They used high quality baguettes in the center and the depth flavor was mesmerizing bite after bite. The braised short rib poutine was generously seasoned but was a bit too sweet for my taste. The green onions, ribs, and cheese on top of crispy potato wedges had a mouthwatering synergy. With a bit more cheese and salt, and a little less sweetness, this would’ve been my new favorite poutine. Having said that, I do think $22 is too steep for a traditionally fastfood dish with moderately priced cheeses. The bread crumbs of the fish were generously seasoned, which was surprising. Usually the breading is overlooked at other restaurants but not so here. The fries were great and had the right amount of salt. The fries are not made in house but they have a nice crunch and the breading is delicious. The chop was a bit tough and it was a little difficult to cut. I loved the seasonings on top, the char, and the savory sauce. Overall, I highly recommend it for a hearty dinner. The pie had lower quality chocolate, a store bought crust, and I couldn’t tell if the cookie dough is made in house. It was a bit sugar forward. The walnuts seem to tie together the mix of soft, crispy, and crunchy. Each bite is fun and interesting. It tastes like a pie an Auntie would bring by at Thanksgiving to try. A relative would go back for a second piece if she brought this one, I know I would. $9 is a fair price for both the experience and value. I would gladly pay it again. Price vs Value: The cocktails are made with higher quality ingredients and I think a $14 price tag is justified. The French Onion soup tastes like a $20, high end French Onion soup and the price is a steal. The fish and chips is to be expected and the braised short rib is a bit overpriced for the value. The chop and pie slice were worth every cent. I think the value is certainly there. For two people, we could’ve easily eaten there for $70 if we had been frugal. Another part of this restaurant’s charm is the flexibility in its pricing and offerings. It is a place to splurge for special occasions and a haven in the winter for a simple cup of soup. I highly recommend The Olde Bryan Inn.

I was in Saratoga Springs with my wife on the 11th through the 13th of January 2022 because my wife needed surgery. I could not enter the hospital due to Covid rules. On the evening of the 12th, Wednesday I walked to The Olde Bryan Inn, my wife & I had been there before. After I knew that my wife was OK & had notified friends & family I felt the need to relax & be comforted by some wonderful food and possibly a warm fire. My Waitress, Kim greeted me as did The hostess at the door. I ordered an Bourbon Old Fashioned & asked for the Bartender to choose a Great Bourbon for me. It was Delicious & I savored it, the Bourbon was wonderful & warmed me up & relaxed me. My Waitress, Kim was wonderful & we had the nicest conversation & made me feel at 🏡 home. The next thing I ordered was The French Onion 🍲 Soup. It was so delicious & the robust, beefy flavor was amazing, best I had ever had. I then ordered the Filet Mignon, (medium rare) with fresh green beans & baked potato. I asked Kim about 🍷 wine & she brought me 3 samples to taste. The one she recommended was The Claret to pair with my dinner. That was the one I chose. It paired so well with my dinner & I felt like I was being treated like a king. My Filet was cooked perfectly ! One nice touch is that I was allowed to just relax & enjoy everything. I also had a very nice conversation with Edward who served in The United States Navy, as did I . I would guess that he was the expiditer, he keeps everything running smoothly , from employees to guests. I was also given 10 % off because I stayed at The Courtyard Marriott on Excelsior Ave. When I thought my dinner could get no better, I ordered an OBI (Old Bryan Inn) coffee with Kahlua & Baileys Irish Cream & homemade apple crisp made with local apples, warmed & Ala mode. I was in food heaven !! It was so delicious !!! I sent my regards to the chef & thanked everyone who served me. Kim was so Wonderful to me, you should ask for her as your server. If you travel to Saratoga Springs, NY, and you want an extraordinary experience, please visit The Olde Bryan Inn.

A True Saratoga Gem – History, Flavor, and Heart If you're looking for the perfect blend of history, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Old Bryan Inn is the place to be. As a longtime Saratoga local, I can confidently say this is where we go when we want a meal that never disappoints. Housed in a beautifully preserved 18th-century stone building, the restaurant radiates warmth—from the rustic wooden beams to the crackling fireplaces that make any meal feel like a cozy retreat. The service is just as inviting as the setting, with friendly staff who make you feel like part of the family the moment you step inside. Now, let’s talk about the food—because wow. The oven-baked haddock is an absolute must-try. Perfectly flaky, bathed in a lemon herb scampi sauce, and paired with wild rice and asparagus—it’s the kind of dish you dream about later. And if you’re a seafood lover, don’t pass up the garlic butter and white wine baby rock shrimp—a dish so rich and flavorful you’ll want to soak up every last drop with their fresh bread. Dessert? Let’s just say you have to save room. The crème brûlée is velvety, perfectly caramelized, and worth every bite. But what makes it even better? The Old Bryan Inn has a heart. Their management supports community initiatives, including donating proceeds from certain desserts to help those experiencing homelessness. A meal here isn’t just delicious—it’s meaningful. Saratoga has no shortage of great dining, but the Old Bryan Inn is in a class of its own. Whether you're visiting or a local like me, you can’t go wrong. Five stars, every time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A truly perfect night out. Our waiter, Derek, was friendly and helpful; I will definitely ask for him again the next time we are there. Our food was delicious. Homemade breaded mozzarella, warm and gooey. Plenty of fresh buttermilk dinner rolls that melted in your mouth. And then the entrees. I ordered a burger with toppings. It came out at the temperature I requested, but was still juicy. Great flavor. Crispy fries on the side. The husband ordered the crispy fried (boneless) chicken. 2 huge pieces with a slightly spicy seasoning in the breading. Chicken was cooked perfectly, moist inside and crunchy breading outside. Homemade mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans were spot on as well. The menu changes every few months, so I recommend visiting soon! Update 7/17/23: Last night, 6 of us celebrated my brother's birthday there. Not only was the food phenomenonal as always and the customer service too, but.. We saw the lead chef 3 times! We had a pretty severe dairy allergy in our party and he came out twice to go over the menu and then to to suggest a non-dairy dessert. At this visit, I commented on how delicious the entree was that I ordered and how I keep wanting to try new dishes, but can't help ordering it. This man literally made a 3rd visit and brought me the "smaller/home version" of the recipe. It is track season, so reservations are a must - but if you haven't been, make one now!

We were in Saratoga Springs and decided to grab something to eat, we wanted a local place with a history and we found it. The Olde Bryan Inn is a historic restaurant and inn is one of the oldest buildings in the city, dating back to the late 1700s. The inn was originally a tavern owned by Alexander Bryan, a Revolutionary War hero. It was later used as a private home, a laundry, and a boarding house. In 1979, it was converted into a restaurant. The Olde Bryan Inn is known for its fine dining and its haunted reputation. The inn is said to be haunted by the ghosts of Alexander Bryan and his wife, as well as by the ghosts of several former employees. Visitors have reported seeing apparitions, hearing disembodied voices, and experiencing other paranormal activity. That sounded interesting enough so we got in and placed our order. While waiting we checked out numerous old pictures and items scattered around. The waiters were polite, food was abundant. We had some mozzarella cheese sticks, pork chops and sausages - all were good. Place were somewhat crowded. The inn is said to be one of the most haunted places in New York State. Visitors have reported seeing apparitions, hearing disembodied voices, and experiencing other paranormal activity. We didn't see anything of that sort, but the food was out of this world. Or maybe we were too hungry.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at The Olde Bryan Inn. As we pulled up, we were immediately struck by how historic the building looked. Our Uber driver even told us that George Washington had once visited, which added a really cool layer to the whole evening and made us even more excited to be there. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with tons of character. It gave off that warm, small-town, hometown feeling where the staff is genuinely friendly and everything feels relaxed. The food was excellent. My wife ordered the salmon salad, which was fresh and flavorful. I had the vegetable stir-fry, which was colorful, delicious, and had a great mix of textures. I also tried a strawberry grapefruit mocktail that was light and refreshing, while my wife enjoyed a mint julep that was just the right balance of sweet and minty. We couldn’t resist grabbing a couple of desserts to go. The Tollhouse pie cookie sundae and the chocolate mousse were both fantastic—rich, satisfying, and the perfect way to end the meal. If you’re in Saratoga Springs, The Olde Bryan Inn is definitely worth a visit. Great food, a rich sense of history, and a hometown vibe that makes you feel right at home.
