After perusing the wide online selection of Saratoga Springs Sunday brunch options, I selected 9 Miles East for several potentially Whole Food Plant Based selections on their menu. With ample off-street parking, the eatery sits on the outskirts of downtown Saratoga Springs, emanating an industrial vibe both outside (concrete surfaces & garage door) and in (pock-marked cinderblock walls). I started with a cold brewed coffee that I discarded after several sips. It’s rare that I can order the superior steel-cut rather than the more common rolled oats, and so I followed with the Toasted Steel-Cut Oats. The oats were cooked well, with a colorful assortment of dried fruit and pumpkin seeds; however, they lacked the nuts specified on the menu, they were runny (see photo), and they were cool in sections, as if quickly microwaved without being stirred. I felt rushed to finish them as they became cooler by the minute in the cold interior of the restaurant (half the patrons were dining in their coats). I finished with the Grains & Greens Veg Bowl, without the egg and pesto. This was a tasty dish, although a little too oily for me. The staff was happy to accommodate my request for added kale, which was fresh and tasty, too. The side of house-baked bread was tasty, but not toasted as specified in the menu. I pleasantly found that none of the food was salty, as is the case in most of the restaurants I visit. Dishes were generously sized, and prices were exceptionally reasonable.

To call 9 Miles East Farm a pizza restaurant would be a disservice to how lovely of an establishment it is, with all of its well-curated local items, but if they only sold pizza I'd still be giving them five stars. The sourdough pizza was prepared fresh for us in about 20 minutes, as we requested a dairy-free pie. Instead of faux-cheese, 9 Miles uses a white bean puree - the first time I've ever seen such a thing and one of the best cheese alternatives I've come across. That puree, along with garden-fresh tomato sauce, sat beneath an assortment of other in-season vegetables, holding it all together. The dough and crust were phenomenal. Flavor, texture, integrity. I can't wait to bring more friends back for another pie, and a few drafts.

I am sad to be writing this review, as I have been an avid, and loyal fan of 9 Mile for over 5 years. I spent 2 years on their weekly meal delivery plan, and their breakfast has always been a favorite of mine. But not anymore. This is the third time in a row I have gone and gotten food I could barely eat, or that was otherwise sub-par. I'll share some photos below as an example. The first photo is what my favorite breakfast, The Hot Mess, normally looks like, and the second is what it looked like this week. I emailed with the owner who told me that everything is portioned, so I must be mistaken about my claim that I got a half portion. He stopped replying once I sent him these photos.

This is the best delivery pizza service you're gonna get in Saratoga and the best I've had living all over New York. Our group of friends has ordered a few times now and we are NEVER disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and their customer service is above and beyond. The last time a friend ordered there was a mix-up and his order got lost in the shuffle, but a short phone call later they offered to refund us and deliver the pizzas ASAP anyway, plus they included some of their $3 Thursday salads! (Which, if you're ordering on Thursday, I highly recommend. It's an incredible deal for a ton of salad so delicious everyone leaves room for some - and that's saying something with how delicious the pizza is). I was floored with how generous and thoughtful they were regarding the mix-up, so will definitely only be getting pizza with them from now on.

On top of that the pizzas always arrive perfectly warm and fresh with interesting flavor combinations. You can especially taste the high quality of their ingredients with the simpler pies and their beautifully executed and care-infused cooking methods with the more complicated pies. Sure, they're a bit pricier than your average pizza parlor, but if you were going to get a large pie with 2 toppings the cost would be about the same and the quality would be on a completely different level.

We have a friend with Celiac's and I can't believe I'm about to say this but - their gluten free crust is SO scrumptious. It's every bit as enjoyable as their sourdough crust (with the added bonus that it's thinner so you can eat twice as many slices). We've had gluten free pizza all around the area and nothing even remotely compares to this crust. I voluntarily and enthusiastically eat their gluten free pizza, and "the guys" do too!

Writing this review made me super hungry. Guess it's pizza...

9 Miles East Farm is a fascinatingly unique business that offers pizzas and prepared meals made with ingredients either grown right there on the farm or from one of the other local farms. If you're a food nerd or just like knowing where your food comes from, nothing can beat 9 Miles East Farm unless you are growing it yourself. Also be aware that they only offer delivery.

For the actual food, I have only tried the pizzas. The pizza menu is very limited. There are only two regular pizzas: A cheese pizza and a sausage pizza. They also usually have a special seasonal pizza that only sticks around for a week or two before disappearing forever.

There is a freshness to the pizza that simply cannot be beat. The herbs sprinkled on the pizzas drive it home that what you are eating was probably harvested within the past couple of days. It's a fantastic experience that is very difficult to commit to text.

If you look past the philosophy of the food, the most important thing is the taste. Without the ideology behind the pizza, 9 Miles East Farm is only really above average. The main thing keeping that fifth star off of my review is their cooking method. It's hard not to compare 9 Miles East to the wood fire-cooked pizza of Harvest and Hearth, especially when H&H also touts its commitment to keeping it local. Compared to H&H, 9 Miles East lacks the robust smokiness and delicious crust that makes H&H the best pizza place around. Once you've had wood fire-cooked pizza, it's impossible to not be disappointed in anything less.

Despite the standard and boring cooking method, 9 Miles East still makes a great pizza. Their delivery is punctual and the ability to pre-order a pizza ahead of time is kind of the greatest thing ever. Well worth checking out for any...

Can one really have a great experience with ordering a pizza? If it's from 9 Miles East, the answer is YES.

My fiance and I have been fans of the meal delivery program for at least 3 years now. We participate in the meal delivery program on and off. We've seen and heard about the amazing pizzas but Friday (5/29) was our first experience -- I couldn't resist the seasonal pesto pizza any longer! SWe planned to pick up the order in Malta. After the order was placed, we received a call from one of your team members letting us know we were ordering outside of the delivery window, BUT he had 3 different options for how we could still get our order. We honestly couldn't believe the Farm would accommodate a pick up at Saratoga Honda - very convenient for us.

Storms were raging Friday night and your team took the time to call to let us know the delivery was running a little behind. With a brief hand off, we brought the pizzas home -- ok side story -- we got home to find the power was out and we were locked out of the house as a result...had to shuffle around to get a key and then back home....so "home" about an hour after our pizza pickup. The pizza wasn't as warm as when we picked it up obviously and we couldn't reheat, but let me tell you, the deliciousness was the reward for a crazy night! We have been raving about the pizza to everyone we know since. Most ask if the pizza comes cold/needing to be cooked -- and are surprised when we say "no way, it's ready to eat...
