West Avenue Pizzeria — Restaurant in City of Saratoga Springs

This has now become our go to pizzeria. We have consistently gotten great meals from them. The staff is always so pleasant and lovely. Our new favorite, the pepperoni and hot honey pizza. YUM.

First impression:

For the customer service alone you should check out this place. How often do you place an order for take out and the person who answers is cheerful, happily responsive to inquiries and willingly accommodates special requests? Just from this first impression we decided we had to make the 45 minute drive and try this place out. We placed our order for pizza and wings.

Because of the distance we requested our order be ready at a certain time. It was ready as promised when my partner arrived. He said the people were just as nice and friendly in person as they were on the phone.

Let’s start with the wings. Yum. They mixed garlic parmigiana and medium for us. The wings were crispy, juicy AND tender. We would have liked a bit more heat but that is easily corrected with the next order. Remember this was custom and not part of their standard menu.

Let’s talk about their blue cheese dip/sauce that comes with the wings. It was hands down the best I have ever had. It was creamy with chunks of blue cheese without that vinegary bite you get with most. I am willing to bet that is made in house. It is perfect to dip your wings or crust in.

Now for the pizza. It tormented my partner all the way home with its tantalizing aroma. What made it worse was he stole a bit from the edge and piece of sausage so he knew that the taste lived up to the amazing scent. The pizzas were delicious especially considering that by the time we were able to enjoy it, it was a good hour and a half old. The toppings were fresh and plentiful but not overwhelming. The sauce has a nice flavor. And the crust just the right amount of chew.

The final test.. The pizza was still good this morning for breakfast straight from the fridge.

So if you are looking for a good solid NY style pie where the slices are large enough to fold in half then this is the place for you. West Avenue Pizzeria, if it continues to live up to the first visit, will become our go to joint for NY style pizza.

The first visit was...

West Ave Pizzeria made our son’s graduation party a HUGE success. We enjoyed the sausage and peppers (served with homemade rolls straight from the oven) lasagna, chicken parm, and the garlic chicken with roasted potatoes. YUM! We also ordered pizzas. The pepperoni with hot honey pizza and the barbeque chicken pizza are my personal favorites but they are all delicious. This food was so delicious that everyone wanted to know just where we got the food! We were proud to tell them that it came from WEST AVENUE PIZZA. All of our guests were delighted and came back for seconds. We ate all day long. The portions are ENORMOUS. Their delicious food feed a party of 90 people easily for lunch, dinner and we still had enough left over to share with our extended family and friends. Thank you to Mario, Jennifer,, Jackie, Chris, and the whole team for providing us with this beautiful food that was made with love. You made it so easy for us and took all of the worry away from us so that we could focus on our guests. We are so grateful to you. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! West Avenue Pizza is our only place for catering and dinner. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that West Avenue Pizzeria is just for pizza – because that is only half of the story. Placed an order for 5 subs online. Delivery scheduled for 5:20 pm (75 mins)- no problem. Called at 5:40 and was told (after giving my last name and address) that The order was out for delivery and should be to my house soon. I called back again a half hour later at 6:10 and was again told that the order was out for delivery. The woman I spoke to even read through my order so I know she had the right one. I was told that sometimes when they are delivering to an in-town address the driver will take more than one order which might be why it was taking so long- totally get it.

When we still hadn't gotten our food at 6:40 I called again and was again told that our food was out for delivery. When I pushed back and said that they needed to be worried about their driver who had been out for over an hour, I was transferred to a manager. The manager's demeanor was rude and she told me there had been a mix-up with the kitchen and that they had never actually filled the order. When I asked why I was told twice that the food was already out for delivery, she told me there was a problem with their system. No kidding!

We were trying this restaurant for the first time and won't be placing an order with them again. Sounds like a lot of customers have had...
