Blue Rose Cheesecake & Bake Shop — Restaurant in City of Schenectady

This charming bakery belongs to the wonderful Blue Ribbon diner/ restaurant right across the parking lot. Its a new location that opened fairly recently. After years of receiving praise for their baked goods and due to demand they have decided to open up a bakery too; and it's absolutely exquisite. Upon entering I was immediately impressed by the charming decor and pleasant ambiance the establishment exuded. It's very neat, organized, and clean. The desserts they have showcased look absolutely beautiful, it's like they have works of art on display. Also inside is a small area of tables and chairs where patrons can sit down and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or baked goods near large windows; it's reminiscent of a cafe. It has a an overall warm, open, and relaxed atmosphere that is only bolstered by the friendliness of the staff there that greet you amiably with a pleasant smile - rain or shine. The employee there who assisted us was not only nice, but she also helped me whenever I had questions. Their prices for items are a bit high, but at least with this bakery you are receiving quality. The desserts here taste as wonderful as they look. There is a wide selection of delectable treats offered here including: gelatto, cookies, brownies, cannolis, cakes (popular cheesecake included), macaroons, eclairs and cupcakes; and they have "Euro specialty pastries and cookies." The overall pricing, quality and presentation of the desserts give off an impression of an upscale bakery. Custom ordering is available, and I was told that you call in for it and that three days were needed. For orders they have a wide selection of options available for cakes, pies, and pastries. So far I have tried one of their cakes, cookies, and cannolis and all tasted splendid. There's also a nice section of the shop that sells items, but I didnt bother to browse them. Can't really beat those prices.

Stopped in to pick up some sweets on my way home from a company breakfast earlier in the day, and my old man had recommended me those spot as he knows I love to buy a bunch of baked goods on my cheat day.

Ended up going with a wide sweep of sweets, a cheesecake cookie, a mini-monster cupcake, a lemon sprinkle cookie, a raspberry, blueberry, and strawberry madeleine cookie sandwich, a butter dipping cookie, a mini-cannoli, a lemon cream sandwich cookie, a cotton candy cream cookie sandwich, and a mega cherry cream cupcake. Like I said, a little of everything.

Only ended up paying a bit over $18, very inexpensive for the treasure trove of goodies I picked.

My favorite thing I had was the cheesecake cookie for sure, very glad I noticed it before stopping my selection. The madeleines were all rather dry sadly, which hurt their flavor. Same for the butter and lemon sprinkle cookies, but the cannoli was excellent and those lemon and cotton candy sandwich cookies had some great flavor that didn't overpower me like other bakeries tend to do. The cupcakes however I left for another day as that was a lot of sugar for one night.

Sadly Blue Rose is out of my way in terms of regular trips home from work, so I don't see myself returning anytime soon, but I wouldn't say no on another day I have the time to drop in. They did have plenty of other things...
