A Memorable Morning at the Café with Linda L.
The sun peeked through the lace curtains, casting a warm glow on the cozy corner booth. I settled into the cushioned seat, anticipation bubbling within me. It was a lazy Sunday morning, and I had chosen my favorite breakfast spot—the quaint little café tucked away on Elm Street.
Linda L., our server, glided over with a smile that could brighten the grayest of days. Her apron was neatly tied, and her eyes sparkled as she handed me the menu. "Good morning! Ready to indulge in some breakfast magic?" she asked, her voice a melodic blend of cheerfulness.
I nodded, my gaze already fixed on the page. The choices were abundant, but my heart knew exactly what it craved: the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast. It was legendary—a symphony of flavors that danced on the taste buds. Linda L. seemed to read my mind. "Ah, the French toast," she said, her eyes twinkling. "An excellent choice. You won't be disappointed."
As she glided away, I sipped my coffee, inhaling the aroma of freshly ground beans. The café buzzed with life—the clinking of cutlery, the low hum of conversations, and the occasional laughter. Linda L. moved gracefully between tables, attending to each guest with genuine warmth. She was more than a server; she was a storyteller, weaving tales of culinary delights and shared moments.
And then it arrived—the pièce de résistance. A plate adorned with golden slices of brioche, stuffed with plump strawberries and a hint of vanilla. The whipped cream atop resembled fluffy clouds, and a drizzle of maple syrup cascaded down the sides. I closed my eyes as I took the first bite—a symphony indeed. The strawberries burst with sweetness, the bread soaked in eggy goodness, and the crunch of toasted almonds added a delightful surprise.
Linda L. appeared by my side, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "How's the French toast?" she asked, her pride evident. I could only nod, my mouth full, but my heart singing. It was more than a meal; it was a memory etched in syrup and crumbs.
As I paid the bill, Linda L. leaned in. "Come back soon," she whispered. "We'll have more stories to share." And I knew I would return—the café, the French toast, and Linda L.—a trio of magic waiting to be savored again.
So here's to Linda L., the great server who made my morning extraordinary, and to that heavenly Strawberry Stuffed French Toast—I'll forever love it.

Read moreCustomer service needs attention! My husband, granddaughter and myself looked for a Denny’s to stop at while on our trip. So we went in and we were sat by the waitress Rachel who was wonderful.
However, the place got busy and she was the only server that was on. She said she would be back with crayons and quickly brought them. Then we waited a little while and while waiting we figured out what we wanted to eat. Another woman came over to ask us what we wanted to drink. I said that we already figured out what we wanted to eat. Her response “okay”! So I began to give her our order because she didn’t say anything else. We got through my granddaughters and mine and then my husband says I’ll have a Coke/Pepsi and she said “k” and walked away as he started to order his food. Her attitude was as if we had the nerve to stop and we were interfering with her day.
She then proceeded to walk over to the register area and rudely said aloud to our original waitress “I’ll be back later to get my tip from you”. She brought over my granddaughter’s salad and dropped it in the table and walked away. Rude!! I was so upset that we were going to walk out, but starving by this point.
Our original waitress Rachael came over and wanted to take our order. I said the other woman did, but she was so rude as we were interrupting her day. I stated that she should tell her to be nicer. I then find out that her name is Sue and she is the manager of the location! I was appalled to hear it as I have been in customer service for 21 years and I would terminate a team member for treating our customers that way! Our poor waitress was running around like a chicken with her head chopped off. Maybe as a “Manager” you should help her team a little more and treat them better! People leave bosses, not jobs!
We finally received our food which was lukewarm to cool! I felt really bad for Rachael. She really did try to make the remaining visit good, but I was so upset that someone who is in charge of people/ treats everyone so badly.
I will never return to another Denny’s again! Every time I have gone to one- the customer service is horrible. Please spend some time and train in customer service.
The attached photos have nothing to do with this post and should not be here. No idea how to...
Read moreI was with a party of 5 and the server / manager Brianna had a bad attitude and did not want to give a discount for the A/C not working. The only options offered was to separate the party or eat in the heat. Brianna also never apologized for the A/C not working. It was just that we were to deal with it and her attitude or leave. She continued on after we decided to eat in the heat. After we asked her to stop aruguing about it (because we had children with us) she informed us that she was also the server.. Continuing on arguing with us we decided to leave. It was the worst customer service I've ever seen. Myself coming from a customer service background understood when the customer is going to agree to what was offered you don't continue to argue with the customer and not being sympathetic to the customers needs. I decided to take my party to Mcafe which had great A/ C and great customer service. The person was taking orders on the phone and polite to people walking in. Checked in on us and was basically working alone. Prices were also cheaper. It was a great decision walking out of Denny's Notts location. The A/ C not working should not be the customers problem and with the recent temperatures being so high the least we expected was sympathy and understanding. I would not recommend going to this Denny's where the regular staff is afraid to approach management about a customers issue. Brianna should not be in charge seeing as though her team is more sympathetic to customers than the person in charge. I have never seen someone try to get rid of a customer who is willing to deal with issues the restaurant is responsible for. She was ok with the customer being dissatisfied and walking out after agreeing to the unbearable heat. She felt she was right so I choose not to spend a dollar at that Denny's. Never had a bad experience there.. But with management like that I will just go to Ihop it is better anyway or Mcafe where customers are valued and prices are cheaper. The 1 star given is for the lady who seated us and was afraid to ask Brianna to give us a discount. Instead she...
