Extremely Disappointed with Service at Restaurant 151 – Won’t Be Returning
I visited Restaurant 151 on a casual Monday night after leaving Restaurant 151, looking to relax and enjoy a couple of drinks. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.
We were seated near the bar, and it took an unreasonably long time for our waitress to even acknowledge us. When she finally came over, I ordered an Old Fashioned and an Espresso Martini. The Espresso Martini came out looking and tasting like watered-down chocolate milk—completely off from what it should have been.
When I politely brought this up, hoping it could simply be remade, the response I received was: “So what do you want me to do about it?”—delivered with a rude, dismissive attitude. I wasn’t looking for anything free; I just wanted the drink corrected. The tone and lack of professionalism were shocking.
What made this experience even more disappointing is that I had already been warned by others about the restaurant’s reputation for poor treatment of minority customers. I didn’t want to believe it or base my expectations on hearsay—but sadly, my experience seemed to reflect those concerns. I came in just looking to enjoy my evening, not to be treated like an inconvenience.
As someone who works hard and chooses to spend their money dining out, I expect at the very least to be treated with basic respect—especially when giving feedback in a calm and respectful way.
This was not only a failed customer service moment—it was a deeply uncomfortable experience that left me feeling unheard, unwelcome, and disrespected.
I will not be returning. Her disrespect and throwing the check is exactly why minorities do not feel...

The bar staff is great, the cooks are good, and the environment is a really pleasant industrial design with a great view of Schenectady City Hall. As for the food, I think it's actually very good for what it is -- super simple, no frills, pub food. They use that "build your own burger" style for their entire menu, whether it be a burger, club sandwich, or personal pizza. My favorite regular meal is a mushroom-swiss cheeseburger with their fries (which are currently my favorite fries in the area). One thing I feels should be noted, is that they don't serve dill pickle spears with their sandwiches, which I thought was really odd. I often find myself missing that at the end of my meal.
For lighter fare, you can choose one of their salads, which is either a cob salad, or your standard garden salad variety. The dressings are good, but I personally hate boring old school salads and would prefer some variety like a salad with apple slices, sliced almonds, dried cranberries, and blue cheese crumbles. Or even the standard Asian chicken salad with crunchy noodles, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries and a sesame ginger dressing. Pinhead Suzan's used to have one like this, but took it off the menu for some reason and Puzzles around the corner has a really good Orchard Chicken Salad, which satisfies that hankering.
Overall, I think it's a pretty good place to meet up friends to grab a bite or a couple drinks. If they could just elevate their salads and get some pickle spears, I'd probably give them...
