We had 6pm reservations. Arrived at 5:30 with the intent to have a cocktail at the bar before seating, told the hostess. The bar was empty, we chose 2 seats at the middle and sat down, but were quickly told by the bartender (female, mid age, reddish hair) that we could not sit in the seats we chose... at the empty bar. We could either sit to the immediate left or right of them. Very odd, somewhat off putting. When we inquired later on why we had to move, the reason given was nothing more than it was the bartender's preference.
6pm came and the hostess did not come to take us to our table. When I went to the hostess station she said something like "Oh, I wasn't sure if you still wanted it..." Not like she came to ask us, but whatever. We were taken to our indoor table. 2 other tables in the dining room had been seated already. The chairs are LOW compared to the tables; this may not affect you if you are mid to tall but if you're on the shorter side like me, you may feel like you're a 5-year-old sitting at the adult table. (I made do. This wasn't a make or break issue.) Our waiter was friendly and affable, a former CO. We ordered drinks and an appetizer along with dinner entrees. Appetizer was arancini, came out quickly and was very good.
The dining room was just about full at this point. This is also the point where our waiter disappeared. Literally didn't have eyes on him for at least 30-40 minutes, during which time we could have used another drink, some water, etc.
We placed our dinner order at 6:15. At 7:15 our waiter finally reappeared and asked if we needed anything. Most others seated just after us had their meals. We were about to throw in the towel at 7:30 when dinners finally arrived at the table.
This was not - by any stretch - a complicated order. 2 lobster rolls, and a basic cheese and pepperoni brick oven pizza. The pizza was very good, the standard of what one would expect of a brick oven pizza. The lobster roll was fresh and flavor was excellent; I just wish there were something other than French fries given as the side with this meal. Albeit good food, I fail to see why it took over an hour to prepare something this simple.
The restaurant and grounds are clean and well maintained. Decor is minimal but "more" isn't quite necessary, given the waterfront views if you can get a table that offers such.
We had been wanting to try this place for some time now, and heard mixed reviews. We now understand why. Not sure if we...

I hadn't been before and assumed the only reason to be on raintree island was if you lived or worked there. Prescott proved me wrong.
I arrived slightly before my party. A welcoming, friendly, and well dressed staff offered to seat me but I took a spot at the bar where I had a simply fantastic negroni, elegantly made and presented, until the rest if my party arrived.
The environment is a nice blend of tasteful class and simplicity- dress slacks, buttons ups, and a jacket feel just as at home as nice jeans and a polo.
The menu was a small one side of a page, and had only a few options under each heading, but somehow seemed to have most wants covered. It seemed a lot like you see on those chef shows, where they have a selection of only what the chef has been recently specifically perfecting and what there are great ingredients available for at the time. Lamb, fish, duck, pasta, steak, a variety of starters, etc.
The cocktails and glasses of wine were well selected and a nice mix of classic and new, and the bottle wine list was exhaustive
We opted to start with steak tartare, and had the wagyu, monkfish, pork, and crab pasta. All excellently done and I have to praise John the waiter, perfectly paced and attentive without hovering. He praised the restaurant itself, saying their kitchen system and staff to customer ratio supports this, so I have to assume it would be common regardless of who you got. We ended with a French press and sharing the three desserts on offer. They were specific offerings, like a pumpkin cheesecake or pistachio baked good or a mousse, not always the plain Staples, so you may or may not find one that suits your fancy
The prices were actually rather good for the quality. Obviously a bit above the cheap chains, as you'd expect from such a menu and service, but less then you'd think - you can check out the menu and prices online
I don't know if I'd bring kids for dinner but I would definitely bring a date. Even just going for one or two of the fancy cocktails seems like a good idea every now and then. Most tables were chairs or booth+chair, so booth haters can relax. Not noisy at all. I'm excited to try out their lunch options...
Read moreOne good thing about this restaurant is that a lot of things are made from scratch, which is nice, and also likely why the prices are quite high for the portion size... I could see if it was high quality organic food but it's not. If you go on a weekday after 6:00 you may have trouble finding a parking spot. Service is always good. Food doesn't take too long either. The artichoke appetizer was pretty good.. nice crunchy coating on the artichokes and the sauce was very lemony. The rib appetizer is delicious when it's fresh and not reheated. The ribs are tender, not fatty, flavorful, just fantastic. The focaccia was also outstanding, soft, buttery, the perfect amount of crisp on the outside and the butter that was served with it was unbelievably delicious! The dauphine was to die for. The texture was phenomenal, lightly crisp on the outside soft and creamy on the inside, super flavorful. We both said we would order extra of those next time. The bigoli pasta had a bit of a chewy texture, but the sauce was great. Slices of garlic, basil, Rich flavorful sauce, not sweet at all. I loved the white cheddar popovers, the inside of them had a wonderful soft stretchy texture, with a browned crisp outside, had a really nice flavor and a dollop of cheesy butter?( I'm not sure ) but it was really good. My friend said the mashed potatoes were five stars, super smooth and creamy. The steak was...meh. we both said we've had better steaks from Carrabba's or even outback. The summer corn ravioli with truffles was okay, It had a creamy sauce that kind of reminded me of Alfredo sauce, the corn was fantastic, fresh and tender, delicious. The ravioli was homemade but rather bland, and the truffles were also very bland. Definitely not Worth $40 in my opinion. The brown butter cake with caramel and toffee came with a side of vanilla gelato, and fresh cherries. Sooo great !! The passion fruit chocolate layer cake with gelato was also very good, the passion fruit layer was very flavorful, the cake was moist and soft, the texture and flavor of everything was great. Definitely very pricey for small portions so be prepared for that. Also, when we placed our order we also ordered a pizza to go, when we left they brought the pizza out and it was completely cold. The pizza was actually...
