I tried to make this my local watering hole but I just can do it! They do get good bands from time-to-time, but the last time I was there, I brought a friend who liked Jack and Coke, and their shots are ridiculous. If you pay $7 you should get a nice sized shot (of Jack) that isn’t watered down. I bought her a double ($14) and it still had no bite whatsoever. I was very embarrassed and apologized profusely to my friend. Another thing is they have 2 or 3 bouncers in a place the size of a 2 car garage. It’s just weird and overkill. Maybe that’s why they can afford a decent pour. Lastly, even after going there for 2 years, one of the bartenders was completely rude to me last time. I guess she feels she’s doing me a favor? IDK..maybe she was expecting me to hit on her, but it never happened and never will. You have to have the right kind of personality to be a bartender and weight-lifter woman is just devoid of personality. It seems like she’s been there so long she just doesn’t care about customers opinion. There are 4 places on the same block I will go to first and I’ll drive to Camden to see Thunder...
Read moreMy first time ever in this pub. I was welcomed shortly upon arriving at the bar by a very beautiful young bartender named Nicole. She and the bar manager Amanda helped me thru deciding what I should choose from the menu here. They named off numerous paninis and different sandwiches. Ultimately I decided in the Rissotto balls which were reasonably priced at $8.95. The rissotto balls were delightful. Very light, not oily and very crisp on the bite. Fried perfectly. I also ordered a calzone. I've ordered many calzones throughout the city of Utica. The cook here seemed to be unsure of him/herself. The first calzone arrived out of the kitchen partially raw. I did ask Nicole if she would ask the cook to try again and that I would wait for a more well done calzone. The second calzone that is much more brown is the one that I actually ate. The second calzone was a very full, crispy and juicy delight. I would say a top 10 of calzones throughout the city. Overall, 2 beers and an app with the calzone was under $25. A very reasonable price, enjoyable experience and tasty food. I will be...
Read moreSo I was in town for a few days and was craving Sicilian Style Upside Down Pizza and Chicken Riggies. I used to get food here at Lukin's about 4 years ago and it was alright. I saw some Facebook posts recently and the food looked really good so I decided to give it a go. I am so annoyed that I did! The Upside Down Pizza was thrown together really fast and it showed. The bottom tasted like cooking spray and was way more cooked than the rest of the pizza. The distribution of sauce, cheese, and Pepperoni were so uneven. It really was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had in Utica and I lived here for 3 years. The Riggies were mediocre at best, not much flavor at all, and I really couldn't taste Pickled Hot Cherry Peppers (the main ingredient in Riggies!). I asked the guy if he could please give me some Cherry Peppers on the side since there wasn't really any spice in the dish and I just found out when I went to reheat the Riggies that the guy gave me Jalepenos! I will NEVER come here again! I highly recommend going...
