Was celebrating my wife's birthday at Empire Casino and at closing we wanted some great coffee and breakfast. I mentioned there's a McDonald's up the road, however being in Yonkers not familiar with the Diners. I saw Argonaut Diner and said let's go to the diner. Well, we go in and we sat down and said Good Morning to the waitress and the waiter. The only reason im giving 2 stars is because of them and the interior signage. I ordered a simple breakfast 2 eggs, home fries, bacon , and a coffee. My wife ordered a turkey club sandwich combo( came with fries and coleslaw), and a coffee. It was freezing outside. So the 2 coffees were ordered first. The coffee has a bad after taste( chemical) we let the waitress know and she said it's a fresh brew, sorry. All we knew is Don't drink it. Our food came and my wifes food was cold, and my food was cold also and was horrible. The home fries were scalloped potatoes and burnt. I was embarrassed to say the least. I told waitress we don't and not drinking the coffee... she asked if we would like something else to drink we both said Yes. My wife asked for a pepsi ( which was flat) and I got a lipton tea. I asked for the cheque, and when I looked on it the coffee was on the bill. I went to the counter to pay the bill. I said Good Morning to the gentleman who was counting change looking down the entire time. I explained the entire mess, and he was nonchalant and said the potatoea came from Cosco and he'll check the soda machine, but he took the coffe off the bill. It may have nostalgic interior, but their food is not of a true diner. Epic Fail! Save your money and go the McDonald's instead of this place....
Read moreBE AWARE!!! I went to the Argonaut diner this evening and ordered the lamb with mint jelly. On the menu it was $23 but when I got the check the price was upped to $28. I asked the waiter about this and he said that in the front of the menu they had a notation that said they had to up the prices because of the pandemic. I called over the manager and he agreed this is their practice. They put one price on the menu and then up the price on the bill. THESE PEOPLE ARE CON ARTISTS. If anyone had a similar experience as I, please share. Thank you.
I received your response. I did not see any postings throughout your restaurant, but I did see the notation in front of the menu that prices went up. This gives off the impression that the prices in the menu are the new prices. If people are ordering food, they should know the price and the waiter should tell them the price difference when they are ordering if it is different than in the menu as to avoid any unpleasant surprises. If anything, my waiter was trying to get me to order a more expensive lamb chop which I said no thank you too. This is what I mean by con artist, you don't tell people the real price until the bill comes. A few years ago, my sister went into your diner to buy a piece of cake she thought was $5.00. When she went to pay for it, the woman said $5.50. My sister said I thought it was $5.00. The woman's response was we mean $5.00 and up. She walked out as even though 50 cents is not much, my sister did not care for this type of practice. I will not be going back myself even though the food was good and it is only 5 minutes away from...
Read moreWorst online ordering experience of my life! Everything we ordered (wrap, chicken sandwich, waffle) was wrong. The fries were incredibly soggy. I tried calling the restaurant and they were extremely rude. Lady claimed that there was no way my friend had ketchup on her wrap because she doesn't have it in her kitchen, and order tried telling me it was BBQ sauce, which it absolutely was not. Even if it was, not sure how that made it better when she asked for honey mustard, not to mention it completely fell apart and she had to eat it with a fork. I ordered the waffle with Nutella, strawberry, banana, and whipped cream but all I got was a waffle. The manager tried telling me that all he saw was that I ordered a waffle, but their waffles are $9 so why would I order a plain waffle for $13? He then told me I had to contact DoorDash for my refund, but I had ordered through the restaurant's online ordering system so I never received a confirmation email with an order number. I got a text with "tracking" that never showed my order being picked up or headed my way, so all of a sudden someone was at my door. It just showed that it was arriving one minute after the current time, and arrived well after the 28-40 minute estimation. I don't know if you'd have better luck dining in or even going directly through a delivery service, but whatever you do, DO NOT CLICK THE WEBSITE LISTED ON GOOGLE AND ORDER FROM THE SITE IT TAKES YOU TO!!!! You will not get what you ordered, it's a complete...
