Horrible, unprofessional.
I had placed an order for a birthday cake. Very simple. A chocolate cake, hazelnut mousse, pink outside, with a silver drip around. I first went in to place the order after driving all the way from tarrytown. There were two girls in the shop. The first girl told me she couldn't help me and to come back within another time period. I told her I had called and made sure that someone could've taken my order, that's the point of me coming at this time after work. Mind you, I work for a prestigious hospital and pending the outcome of this cake, we were thinking of making a grand order for a retirement event. Regardless, the second girl took my order for the cake. She was sweet and made sure to take my order. The cake details came in at 65. Pictures were taken of the cake and what u wanted it to look like, detailed wrote down and a drawing was even made. It was supposed to look like the first picture. Instead it came out ugly and horrible. After placing the order over a week and a half in advance, the day of about 3 hours before pick up- I received a call stating "what do I want the cake to look like" - uhmmmmmm, you have pictures, I told you. Then she said oh the girl that took my order wasn't in to show her. Then she said oh yea it's on the paper. This person could barely speak English. She then happened to tell me. "I don't know what happened to the cake, that THEY messed up the cake - it has too much icing". What??? She sensed the frustration in my voice and she said don't worry, she fix it and it will be perfect. I said ok. Picked up my cake to see this monstrosity. I went to pick up the cake. I scheduled it to be done at 12 so that by 5 there leaves more than enough time for it to be completed properly. This cake needed to be done for 6. I went there and this is what I received. I was horrified. The girl that helped me smartly stayed in the back. The person that could not speak English helped me. I told her that this is not what I ordered, does not look close to what I ordered. She said that she is sorry and there is nothing I can do.. and to take some rainbow cookies as a refund. ARE you Stupid! I asked to speak to a manager who happened to not be there and I was told that I have to come at 6 AM to speak to him. As he works a 6 to 2 and he is the only one who can provide my refund. I was told "you order the cake and you keep it". This is a horrifiying cake and ruined the celebration. I had to settle for a cake rushed from Cheesecake Factory. I believe that this is a racist place and this is not the last you have heard from me. It seems like the color of your skin plays a part here, because I have seen many other people come in and get treated so nice and with respect, but I just seemed to be brushed off as if my money wasn't valued the same. Asked to speak to a manager 3 separate times and was hung up on. I don't know even want to step foot again into this bakery. Take Warning! I will be contacting my creditor and filing a...
Read moreThe baked items are delicious and they have a very nice assortment. Unfortunately, I am giving a lower review because of my very poor experience with the employees working during my vist today. When I arrived, there was already one person in the store making a cake purchase and one being helped over the phone. I waited for quite some time for either of the two young girls to finsh with their customers so they could help me. During that time, two other employees walked out from the back area then to the back again. They did it a few more times while I continued to wait. The bakery is very small yet not once did any of the four employees working ever acknowledge me or even make eye contact to indicate they knew I was patienly waiting for service. The customer in the store finished their purchase and instead of helping me, the girl that had assisted him, just walked to the back. She and the two other employees then came out from the back but stood by the coffee machine talking while I continued to wait. The girl that was taking the phone order finished her call and, still without acknowledging me, took another minute or so to talk to one of the other girls to complete her phone order paperwork. Finally, when she was all done, she looked at me, no smile, no thanks for waiting, and asked in a flat tone if she could help me. By this time, I was quite put off and very annoyed with this behavior. The rudeness and lack of customer service for the customer facing part of this nice bakery, was very surprising to me. When I finshed my order and was paying, instead of saying thank you, the girl just handed me my change with a blank look on her face. I make it a practice to be appreciative for any service given and always say thank you to someone who has helped me when I pay. I'm sorry to say that these lazy and rude girls annoyed me so much that I didn't this time. I guess the annoyance was written on my face and the girls knew I was less than happy with thier attentiveness because when I was halfway out the door, and almost out of earshot, one of the 4 girls said a sarcastic and mocking "Byeeeeeeee" to me. I was tempted to turn around and let them know that I actually heard it and they were out of line. I decided it was better not to because obviously, none of them really cared about the customers of this business anyway. I understand that young employees do not have the same level of appreciation for the customers as the business owner does but these girls really could care less at all about them. It is not a good look for this or any other business and they need to do better. If you are looking for good baked items, with less than enthusiastic employees, this...
Read moreI needed to order a cake for my son's birthday the day before the event. I understood that the cake wouldn't be customized; however, I sent some pictures to Eric at Delite Bakery to check on the availability of any themes similar to those in the pictures.
When he called me back, his attitude shocked me. He spoke to me as if I were an expert in cake decoration and questioned why I would even ask for custom work. He insulted my email, suggesting that all the decorations were fondant, as if I knew what fondant was.
What frustrated me the most is that we both agreed beforehand that I was completely fine with a basic cake. There was no disagreement; I simply wanted to know if they could add any decorations to it
At the end of the call, I tried to explain that we would call back to confirm the order before the end of the day, which he had initially agreed to. However, he kept cutting me off, insisting that we would never get a cake without a deposit. His demeanor suggested that he couldn’t accept that we might have the final say in the matter.
His attitude was incredibly off-putting, and I will never consider ordering from Delite Bakery again. The service...
