I'll start with the positive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cool. Very musically inclined, even a live band performed. Our waitress was very inviting and we were even greeted by the owner of the restaurant
The negative. The food. My boyfriend ordered a churrasco with fried yucca and mixed vegetables. The portions were okay, in general an average rating. My food was my biggest problem. I was determined to order a salad and i had but 3 to choose from. Their options were very generic and basic, which is something I dont look forward when ordering a salad. However one chose did catch my eye, because of how unique it seemed. A mixed green salad, that was suppose to include red cabbage, goat cheese, seeds (no specification to what kind but i guess?), and a citrus vinaigrette. The food came out relatively quick. As I inspected my salad i quickly saw my chicken was raw, very pink and soft. I had already taken a bite out of it so I would only hope not to get sick over it. Then i started to inspect the rest of my salad, since it seemed very plain. The green tomatoes that were promised on the menu were replaced by sliced of big plum tomatoes, there was no red cabbage, seeds, or even any type of cheese to be found. And the citrus vinagrette was replaced with what seemed like Italian. I quickly called the waitress over, which a solution to my raw chicken was quickly resolved. However when I brought up the fact that what I was served was nothing similar to the menus' description, she seemed confused and did not know what to tell me. So i thought i was confused and so i asked to see a menu in which i found the original description which made me correct. Again i called the waitress over and told her my salad did not look remotely what the menu had said. She again told me it did have cabbage and made it seem i was lying. After a few exchange of words, she finally just offered to bring me a side of parmesan cheese since it was the only cheese available. After I agreed to the parmesan she admitted that many of the items on the menu did not match what was brought out to you and quickly offered for me to change what i wanted. Nothing complimentary or the option to speak to a manager came up. I simply asked for whatever salad they had available since i was hungry and also since my boyfriend was half way done with his meal. When my salad came out again, the chicken was fully cooked, if anything overcooked and very dry. I was only available to eat 2-3 forkfull bites since my boyfriend shared half his meal with me.
I just disliked the fact that i was not informed or warned that the options on the many (many options as the waitress stated) did not hold true descriptions of to what they actually served you. And once I confronted the issue with the waitress, she didnt really try to make an effort to correct it or offer for me to speak to...
Read moreI went in with a couple of friends to the establishment to grab some food and hear some live music. Upon arrival we get greeted and seated in the dining room. There is a party of 6 sitting adjacent to us who are much older than my friends and I. Initially, we're given a food menu, we ask if we can get a drink menu as well and to our surprise, they did not have drink menus. I order a glass of red wine, when the server comes around, he brings over a white, I tell him I didn't order white, he pushes back and finally returns the glass AFTER my friend told him that I ordered white. We order the meal, I give them two stars ONLY for the taste of the food, and when we get it at the table, we ask for ketchup. We get served 4 packets of ketchup for a table of 6, while every other tables around us had bottled ketchup and my friend asks for A1 steak sauce, the server brings him a bowl of gravy. We have three vegans in our friends group including myself. We ordered a Mofongo with Eggplant, an item not found on the menu explicitly. When the bill comes around, we noticed that the mofongos were 20$ each, a steep price as although its not on the menu, all over vegan/vegetarian options are 15$ or less. When we inquire about it, the server asks the chef and comes to tell us that's the price. I ask to speak to the manager about why it is at that price but entrees with Meat were less in price than a plate of veggies. He responds by saying that Eggplant is simply more expensive than chicken because they use a special kind of Eggplant. I push back as I have family in the restaurant industry currently and tell him, eggplants are not more expensive than chickens especially when in season. He then tells me its the way we ordered the meal, there is an eggplant dish we could have ordered and asked to have it with a mofongo, which would be 15$, I ask him if thats an option, why didn't your server do his due diligence to inform us about the option. I received no response to my question, he deflects it to asking me about my career. I understand we're still going through a pandemic and I understand things have increased in price but to provide bad service, not have a drink menu and not properly label your menus with adequate pricing is higly misleading, untrustworthy and ridiculous. Be mindful when visiting...
Read moreAfter reading some of the reviews, I can only come to the conclusion it's an entirely different restaurant at night. We visited for lunch. Our initial host was friendly and welcoming - which was the exact opposite of our waitress.
The menu was confusing..while it states the sides that come with the entree... as in "with rice" our waitress claimed it was merely a "suggestion" and we needed to order the sides (and pay) separately. Yet my dish did state I had my choice of side... so... why didn't the others say the same? She was very "why can't you understand" in her attitude ... don't know if she was just having a bad day or just hasn't taken care of too many customers. Honestly, had our party been a little more mobile, I would have suggested we leave.
Then, ladies and gentlemen, came the food. You get kinda suspicious when you order and your food arrives within a few minutes. I don't think even a microwave oven could have gotten the pork chops or the meat cooked fast enough to have it on our table that quickly. My fish in meunière sauce was fair. and probably the best choice out of anything ordered. The meat dishes were tough and SEEMED to be heated up and not made to order. Even the rice was blah.
Pros? The French fries were crisp, the choco-flan was GOOOOOD and the seats were comfy.
I honestly hope this was just a bad afternoon for them... you don't want to say something so not- nice about a business however I would never recommend this place let alone...
